Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power Introduces Two New Vertical Shaft Vanguard V-Twin BIG BLOCKS

MILWAUKEE, WI -Vanguard(TM) V-Twin BIG BLOCK(TM) engines have always provided cool, clean power that allows commercial contractors to get a lot done in a lot less time. Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power is pleased to announce the addition of two vertical shaft BIG BLOCK engines to its line-up of horizontal shaft BIG BLOCK engines, the 895 and 993 cc.

"The 895 and 993 cc vertical shaft models demonstrate our continued commitment to power and provide valuable solutions for commercial applications," said Doug Page, director of marketing at Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. "The market told us they wanted increased displacement with both horizontal and vertical output shafts. These new engines give outdoor equipment manufacturers greater flexibility to take advantage of these large-displacement engines when designing equipment."

The Vanguard V-Twin BIG BLOCK air-cooled engines feature an advanced debris management system that is incorporated into the engine's air-cooling system and allowing the engine to run cooler and cleaner, while enhancing durability and performance. Innovative, tuned intake and exhaust systems provide a quieter running engine. Vanguard V-Twin BIG BLOCK engines are also available for applications that require liquid-cooled power.

All engines are manufactured by DBS, a Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power joint venture with Daihatsu, a member of the Toyota Group. Vanguard BIG BLOCKS are based on V-Twin/Overhead Valve (OHV) technology that reduces component and equipment wear and tear while providing superior balance and low vibration. Steel-backed aluminum bearings contribute to increased load capacity and reduced engine noise, while an innovative intake and exhaust system and large-volume muffler are tuned to provide a quieter running engine. A lightweight aluminum block increases power-to-weight ratio by reducing overall equipment weight. In addition, a centrifugal, multi-stage industrial air cleaner provides ultimate engine protection, especially under dirty, dusty conditions.

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power is a leading provider of commercial power solutions. The Vanguard engine family is the company's premier line of air -and liquid-cooled gasoline and diesel engines from single to three cylinder. All Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power engines are backed by a network of thousands of Authorized Commercial Service Centers worldwide.
