ONStor Speeds Data Recovery with New Replication Software
New mirroring software replicates both data and filer configurations to eliminate delays in storage recovery.
CAMPBELL, Calif., Oct. 20 // -- ONStor today announced its new Data Mirror software, which allows users to replicate not only data, but also filer configurations among sites, either campus-wide or globally, thus minimizing the downtime associated with bringing a backup data set online. Utilizing asynchronous replication of both data and filer configuration information, ONStor Data Mirror provides a cost-effective data protection and disaster recovery solution that both protects information and eliminates configuration inconsistencies that can delay access to data.
With ONStor Data Mirror, all user data and configuration information, including virtual servers, authentications, and network configurations are automatically mirrored to the secondary site via either IP or Fibre Channel links, thus creating an easily accessed replica of the original filer environment. An intuitive graphical UI simplifies installation and set up. Once Data Mirror has been deployed, users are able to schedule synchronization events so that selected intervals meet application and bandwidth requirements.
With Data Mirror, a single device can serve as the replication target for multiple initiators enabling multiple remote sites to replicate to a single location. In conjunction with Data Mirror, all models of the ONStor Bobcat NAS Gateway and Pantera Clustered NAS systems can be used as either initiators or targets. By sending only changed data to the target, Data Mirror keeps network traffic to a minimum.

The capabilities of Data Mirror combined with the flexibility of ONStor's Bobcat and Pantera systems provides users with more tiered storage options than any other NAS vendor. Pantera offers both high-performance SAS and low-cost SATA drives allowing users to select the appropriate class of disk to meet application requirements, while the open architecture of the Bobcat Gateways allow users to deploy disk solutions from the wide variety of ONStor-certified vendors.
