JLG® To Introduce Innovative Elevating Mast Platform

McConnellsburg, PA, October 18, 2006 - Preliminary details of an all-new elevating mast aerial work platform have been released by JLG Industries, Inc. The Model 1230ES is an addition to JLG's family of Pro-Fit® electric powered aerial work platforms featuring the synergism of JLG's electric drive system combined with a multiphase hydraulic cylinder to elevate the mast platform. The technology provides an electric powered aerial work platform with the capability of quickly lifting workers for all types of interior work. Field tests of the Model 1230ES are underway in Europe and North America; and responses to date have been so encouraging that production is planned so the product will be available in the second quarter of 2007.

The energy saving motors on the front wheels provide up to three times the number of duty cycles versus competitive models and propel the machine up to 3 mph. The hydraulic cylinder provides the power to lift or lower the platform in just 12 seconds. The cylinder's design reduces the number of fluid connections down to four to eliminate almost all fluid leaks. It is a heavy-duty component designed for a minimum of 30,000 lift cycles before repacking. The steel three-section lifting mast, powered by the multi-stage cylinder, is considered to be maintenance free since there are no chains, cables or rollers to adjust.

The Model 1230ES will have 12-ft. (3.7-m) platform height, 500-lb. (227-kg) platform capacity, stows to 30-in. (76.2-cm) wide by 65 1/4-in. (165.7-cm) high and weighs 1,740 lb. (789 kg) so it can easily be moved from floor to floor in most fright elevators and maneuvered through confined areas with an inside turning radius of only 5 in. (12.7 cm).

Operator features include fully proportional lift and drive using a single joystick, a removable control panel with the same layout as JLG's Pro-Fit scissor lifts, a low 22-in. (56-cm) step-in height to the platform and a saloon-style swinging gate for easy entry and exit.
