LCD Switches feature more than 10,000 calibrated RGB colors.
October 24, 2006 -
Suited for studio, medical, and military systems, SI6432 keyswitches combine inverse transmissive liquid crystal displays and RGB color control for readability in low-light environments. RGB-backlit LCD switches include extended command set and 100 brightness settings per color channel, with 64 x 32 pixel resolution. Enabling control of LCD bias, refresh, and drive current, switches allow backlighting and/or display to be turned off without losing bitmap data.

Grosswallstadt - [E設, the global leader in the LCD key technology, extends the industry-leading SA series of RGB-backlit LCD switches with the introduction of the SI6432 keyswitch.
RGB-backlit LCD switches from [E設 have set the industry standards in terms of resolution, RGB-color and ease of control. The LCD key technology has been in use worldwide in industrial and studio equipment, medical and military systems. Many of these applications require low ambient light conditions such as TV studios or command and control centers. The SI6432 switches are ideally suited for these applications due to the use of inverse transmissive liquid crystal displays. In combination with the proprietary RGB color control this gives the SI6432 switches excellent readability in low light environments.
Like the SB6432 switches, the SI6432 keys feature more than 10,000 calibrated RGBcolors as well as an extended command set. With over 100 brightness settings per color channel, SI6432 switches offer the best color resolution as well as the highest display resolution of 64x32 pixels in the industry.
The extended command set allows for even more flexibility and control of the switches. In addition to the more than 10,000 calibrated RGB colors, users can now control LCD bias, refresh and drive current. It is also possible to turn the backlighting and/or display off without loosing the bitmap data.
The SI6432 switches incorporate all the industry-leading features found in the SA series of RGB-backlit LCD switches. [E設 switches utilize internal electronics to control backlighting, display and communications reducing the need for extensive external hardware. A simple 2-wire SPI controls the interface. The switches self-initialize and self-generate the clock signal when no data transfer is taking place. [E設 keys are the only LCD switches that use true RGB colors, not just single red, green, and blue color LEDs. By controlling the backlighting through the proprietary Advanced Technology(TM) electronics, [E設 switches are calibrated to produce the same color in each switch for uniform color in large switch panels.
[E設 originated the LCD key technology in 1984 and continues as the world leader by
manufacturing the most advanced series of RGB-backlit LCD switches.
SI6432 switches are available from stock to 12 weeks directly from [E設 Engstler Elektronik Entwicklung GmbH in Germany or through the [E設 Partner network of distributors worldwide.
