New Halogen-Free Polyolefin Heat-Shrinkable Tubing

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Sept. 25, 2006 - Tyco Electronics has developed two new heat-shrinkable tubing products: ZEROHAL ZH2 and ZH4 heat-shrinkable tubing. The near-zero halogen content of these products makes them especially suitable for commercial electronic applications that require low toxicity materials. The new products boast high flame retardance properties as well as a low recovery (or shrink) temperature. Each product is available in black and offers commercial grade performance. ZH2 has a standard wall thickness and has good flexibility attributes. ZH4 is a thin-wall product with a higher degree of flexibility.

Both ZH2 and ZH2 heat-shrinkable tubing are polyolefin, carry a 125 deg. C temperature rating and pass the UL/CSA VW-1 flame test. Additionally, the products are UL recognized and CSA certified to meet the most common physical and electrical requirements for commercial use. ZH2 and ZH4 heat-shrinkable tubing are designed for full recovery at 90 degrees C.

ZH2 is available in twenty-seven metric sizes with inside diameters ranging from 0.8mm to 30mm and minimum recovered wall thicknesses of 0.33mm up to 0.89mm. ZH4 is available in fifteen metric sizes with inside diameters ranging from 0.6mm to 10.0mm and has minimum recovered wall thicknesses of 0.25mm up to 0.28mm. Shrink ratios are nominally 2:1 for both products. Each product is packaged on spools.

ZH2 heat-shrinkable tubing is priced at a 7 to 10% premium over our standard commercial-grade tubing product. Standard lead time is 4 weeks.
ZH4 heat-shrinkable tubing is priced at a 7 to 10% premium over our standard thin-wall commercial-grade tubing product. Standard lead time is 4 weeks.
