Video Amplifier suits FTTH triplexers.


October 30, 2006 - Designed to amplify incoming signals in fiber-to-the-home analog video networking applications, TAT6254 Single Family Unit Video Receiver/Amplifier integrates trans-impedance amplification and post amplification on single chip and operates on single 12 V supply. It delivers automatic gain control to maintain constant 21 dBmV/channel output from -8 to +2 dBm. Unit features high gain levels over 32 dB and low equivalent input noise of less than 3.5 pA/rtHz.

More Than 10 Top Triplexer Module Companies and System OEM's Are Now Using the TAT6254 RFIC for Fiber-to-the-Home and CATV Applications

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 3 // -- TriAccess Technologies, Inc. announced today at the FTTH Conference here that it has ramped production and is now shipping its TAT6254 Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) video receiver and amplifier in volume beginning with a major order from a leading triplexer sub-assembly module developer. The company is on track to fulfill the volume needs for all 10 of its customers, with general availability planned by the end of October.

The Santa Rosa, California-based company also announced that it acquired multi-million dollar funding from private sources to finance production and continuing operations. Sources of this funding were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to announce that we implemented our plan for bringing up volume production this year," said Chris Day, President of TriAccess Technologies and Chief Technology Officer. "Furthermore, in optimizing our TAT6254 reference designs, we are bringing to market a product that exceeds our initial performance objectives as well as existing standards for RF amplifiers deployed in video networks today. We have next generation and new products in development which extend TriAccess Technologies products further into the digital living room. We expect first samples of these new products by the end of the year."

The company's TAT6254 Single Family Unit (SFU) Video Receiver/Amplifier is a super gain, ultra low noise RFIC device designed to amplify incoming signals in fiber-to-the-home analog video networking applications. This advanced RFIC integrates trans-impedance amplification and post amplification on a single chip and operates on a single 12v supply. This innovative device outperforms other products currently available by greatly simplifying triplexer design, and by improving economics over discrete-based solutions.

The TAT6254 reference circuit also delivers automatic gain control (AGC) to maintain a constant 21 dBmV/channel output from -8 to +2 dBm to ensure video quality without compromising distortion. This is achieved through high gain levels, over 32 dB, and low equivalent input noise (less than 3.5 pA/rtHz for the complete solution).

According to Day, these performance levels represent actual test results that have been verified by customers in their laboratories.

In essence, the TAT6254 is an analog interface between optical triplexers and the home video distribution network. This RFIC is located within the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) on the side of the house and amplifies a signal that has been transmitted over longer optical links, thus providing sufficient clean high gain to support the proliferation of HDTV and other home entertainment terminals that require new cable runs and multiple splits in the home.
