Process Monitor records pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding.
October 10, 2006 -
For each weld pulse, Model MML-100 A records time and magnitude data on actual incident and reflected IR energy in real-time. Material threshold is clearly evident and can be correlated to weld penetration and other weld quality characteristics for many materials and weldment geometries. Whether spot or seam welding, monitor is suited for process control in medical, aerospace, automotive, computer peripheral, and other specialty devices.

Miyachi Unitek Releases New Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser Weld Process Monitor
MONROVIA, CA - OCTOBER 2006 - Miyachi Unitek Corporation is pleased to introduce the MML-100A Nd:YAG Laser Weld Process Monitor. The MML-100A is the first process monitor on the market designed specifically to tackle the challenge of monitoring pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding. Recording time and magnitude data on actual incident and reflected IR energy for each and every pulse, the MML-100 provides competitive manufacturers a valuable new capability for manufacturing process control for medical, aerospace, automotive, computer peripheral and other specialty devices.
For each weld pulse, The MML-100 A measures actual incident instantaneous laser power delivered to the work-piece as well as the reflected power in real time. The material threshold (point at which the IR absorption coefficient abruptly increases) is clearly evident, and can also be correlated to weld penetration and other weld quality characteristics for many materials and weldment geometries. Whether spot welding or seam welding, the MML-100A Nd:YAG Laser Weld Process Monitor sets the new standard for manufacturing process control.
Founded in 1948, Miyachi Unitek designs and manufacturers a full range of resistance welding and reflow soldering power supplies, heads, monitors and accessories for both large scale and fine spot applications requiring precision metals joining, hermetic sealing systems, and lasers and laser systems for welding and marking. The company offers applications and process development support at no charge. Company Headquarters is located at 1820 S. Myrtle Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016.
