Weigh Belt Feeders withstand harsh industrial environments.

September 26, 2006 - Providing feed rates up to 3,000 t/hr, Heavy Industry Weigh Belt Feeders feature low deflection, non-wearing Force Measurement Suspension System weight sensing scale. Weight transducer is located outside feeder enclosure to prevent damage and tare build-up. Dead weight of weigh idler and belt is mass-counterbalanced for resolution and signal-to-noise ratio, and machines allow re-rating of feeder capacity for changes in material or density.

Thayer Scale-Hyer Industries Heavy Duty Weigh Belt Feeders Combine Rugged, Reliable Operation with High Accuracy

Designed for harsh industrial environments

PEMBROKE, MA -- Thayer Scale offers a complete line of High Capacity, Heavy Industry Weigh Belt Feeders capable of accurately measuring and controlling feed rates up to 3,000 t/h. These feeders are specifically designed to survive the harsh industrial environments that are associated with the cement, mining, power (coal) and forest products industries, and incorporate unique design features that result in high accuracy, reliable performance, and extremely stable calibration.

Weighing is done through Thayer's patented low deflection, non-wearing FMSS (Force Measurement Suspension System) weight sensing scale. The weight transducer is located outside the feeder enclosure. This design makes the scale less susceptible to damage, is out of the way for cleaning, and is not prone to tare build-up because material cannot fall onto the scale. High accuracy is accomplished by using 100% of the scales capacity to weigh material. Dead weight of the weigh idler and belt is mass-counterbalanced, thus providing excellent resolution and a high signal to noise ratio.

For stable accuracy Thayer uses the "slack" belt design whereby the belt is driven from the head pulley located at the discharge end of the feeder. This permits lower belt tension during operation for better sensitivity. The head pulley is crowned to prevent tracking problems and is sheathed in rubber lagging to prevent belt slippage.

In addition, the Heavy Duty Weigh Belt Feeders allow for easy "re-rating" of the feeder capacity should material or density change. All changes can be easily accomplished in the field providing unsurpassed flexibility in re-rating the feeder for new or changing requirements.

Founded in 1949, Thayer Scale is a pioneering developer of continuous weighing and feeding equipment for the dry solids conveying and processing industries. Thayer's Belt Scales and Weigh Feeders of both the Weigh Belt and Loss-in-Weight types, cover an extremely wide range of applications in virtually all industries that involve dry solids conveying and processing. From Loss-ln-Weight Feeders that feed vitamins into cereals at rates below 1 pound per hour to 6-ldler Conveyor Scales weighing coal at rates up to 10,000 tons per hour, there are more than 100 proven product variations available to suit most application requirements.

Thayer Scale enjoys a unique reputation as a supplier of equipment that provides the rare combination of measurement precision and extreme robustness. Equipment installed more than 40 years ago continues to operate reliably and accurately.
