Sensicore Adds EPA-Approved Turbidity/Color and Colorimetric Tests to WaterPOINT 870

Handheld Water Analysis Device Capable of Doing Over 25 Measurements Will Save Municipalities Time and Money

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, Sept. 12 / -- Sensicore, a developer of smart sensor systems for measuring and monitoring water quality, has added new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/American Public Health Association's Standard Methods (SM) compliant turbidity/color and colorimetric testing functionalities to its WaterPOINT 870 handheld water analysis system. With these new capabilities, the WaterPOINT 870 can chemically profile a water sample with more than 25 different measurements on a single handheld device. The system is designed to provide users with actionable information in just minutes, eliminating the need for sending samples back to a lab for later analysis.

The new module adds the capability for EPA-approved free and total chlorine, turbidity and intrinsic color plus colorimetric tests for nitrate, nitrite, fluoride, phosphate, iron and copper, and an EPA Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) verified cyanide test. This adds to the WaterPOINT's panel of 18 electrochemical tests that are performed using the Company's proprietary lab-on-chip technology making the system an ideal all- in-one solution for troubleshooting in the field and first responder use.

"Maintaining quality and monitoring for unusual changes to the water supply can be a daunting task when water samples have to be sent to a lab for later analysis that could take hours or days," said Malcolm Kahn, president and CEO of Sensicore. "With added turbidity/color and colorimetric test capabilities, the WaterPOINT 870 is an ideal solution for municipalities that must actively monitor and control their systems to comply with the EPA's stringent regulations. Now a single device will allow municipalities to monitor most of their critical measurements right in the field, reducing the expense and time involved with collecting samples and sending them back to the lab for analysis."

The WaterPOINT 870 is the first "lab-on-chip" water testing system that delivers an entire chemical profile in just minutes. The system is menu-driven and designed to deliver highly accurate and reproducible results in an easy-to-use handheld device. The colorimetric module uses prepackaged liquid chemistries that are stable and do not require mixing. The WaterPOINT 870 has significant internal memory, with the ability to store up to 250 water profiles. Test results also can be downloaded wirelessly or through a USB or RS232 interface onto lab computers, eliminating transcription errors that are commonplace with use of other chemical test kits and individual handheld devices.

The WaterPOINT 870 with turbidity/color and colorimetric testing capabilities will be available in October 2006.

About Sensicore
Sensicore develops smart sensors and sensor networks that automate water testing, data collection and analysis for both drinking and wastewater applications. The Company's WaterNOW online data network helps users understand this data through unique visualization and comparison tools while also organizing their information, process and testing procedures. Sensicore's solutions-based systems are targeted toward municipal, industrial and commercial users who need to profile their water and track problems in real-time. Sensicore aims to create an early-warning system from such information that can help users predict the location and extent of problems in the field.
