Turns Counter is used to test transformers.

September 19, 2006 - Model HBC-2 Turns Counter counts turns of magnet wire in transformers, measures turns ratios between primary and secondary windings, and detects presence of shorted turns. Range selector of 1:1 or 1:2 ratio allows count of up to 1,999 or 3,998 turns respectively, and test frequency of 2.5, 12.5, or 50 kHz can be selected, depending on core material. Transformers up to 15 lb can be placed on instrument table, and device includes built-in 800 turn test coil for calibration.

Low Cost Transformer Turns Counter/Turns Ratio Tester

Alpha-Core Inc. introduces Model HBC-2 Turns Counter, a new easy-to-use, high precision instrument that accurately counts the number of turns of magnet wire in toroidal and other types of closed core transformers, of both low and high frequency designs. The instrument also measures the turns-ratios between primary and secondary windings of all types of transformers. In addition, it checks continuity and will detect the presence of shorted turns.

Depending on the core material in the transformer, (silicon steel, powdered iron, amorphous cores or ferrite cores), the operator may select a test frequency of 2.5 KHz, 12.5 KHz or 50 KHz. A range selector of 1:1 or 1:2 ratio allows the tester to count up to 1999 turns or 3998 turns respectively. For higher number of turns, two, three or more test turns are used.

The Model HBC-2 has an LED readout for instant display of the number of turns when testing toroidal transformers or to display the transformation ratio when testing E/I lamination type transformers.

Transformers up to 15 lbs can be placed on the instrument table. Heavier transformers may be tested on the bench using extension test leads. A built-in 800-turn test coil allows calibration in seconds.

The rugged construction of the Alpha-Core Model HBC-2 Turns Counter makes the instrument suitable for use in both the engineering laboratory and high-speed in-process inspection on the production floor. The list price is $1800.00 FOB Bridgeport, CT.

The Model HBC-2 Turns Counter is a joint development by Guangri Electronic Machinery in Foshan, China and Alpha Core Inc. Bridgeport, CT. Alpha-Core is the sole North American distributor of Guangri 's product line of toroidal coil winding equipment.
