3M Introduces New Adflo System With Particle Filter Service Life Indicator
(St. Paul, MN, September 15, 2006)-Since Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) are becoming an increasingly popular personal protective equipment choice for welders, 3M has added a new particle filter service life indicator to its 3M(TM) Adflo(TM) Respiratory Protection System.
Because of heightened awareness of the hazards of welding fumes, and because of the increased comfort and potential increased productivity PAPRs provide, 3M believes this particle filter service life indicator will be a welcomed addition.
The indicator is designed to enable users easily to determine when to replace the unit's particle filter. By changing filters on time, users will experience longer run times and longer overall battery and motor life.
The new particle filter service life indicator is the only change made to the Adflo System. Airflow settings and warnings for low flow are the same as in the previous unit. 3M also notes that the new indicator applies only to the particle filter. The service life of the optional organic vapor/acid gas cartridge must be calculated separately.
If the user misses a filter change, the Adflo turbo unit has a safety alarm that warns the user when the airflow becomes insufficient. If the user keeps working despite the alarm, the Adflo turbo unit turns off automatically as an extra safety measure.
