New Gateway E-4610 Professional Desktop Offers Enhanced Performance, Manageability and Security
The E-4610 Includes the New Intel Q965 Chipset and Core 2 Duo Processor, vPro With Active Management Technology and TPM 1.2
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 7 -- Gateway, Inc. today introduced the Gateway(R) E-4610 professional desktop, which brings enhanced performance, manageability and security to Gateway's education, government and business customers. The powerful new desktop is designed to meet the stringent manageability requirements of advanced enterprise-level IT departments and the increasing performance needs of growing small- and medium-sized businesses.
The Intel(R) vPro(TM) compliant E-4610 includes the new Intel Q965 chipset with support for integrated RAID and the new Intel Core(TM) 2 Duo processor; Active Management Technology (AMT); and the industry's latest hardware security standard, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2. It also offers dual monitor support through integrated DVI and VGA ports.
"We've taken performance and manageability to the next level by combining the latest Intel technologies with advancements in Gateway's remote system administration," said Marc Demars, Gateway's senior director of professional desktops and displays. "Housing these new capabilities in our highly-reliable dual-fan BTX chassis makes it the perfect platform to run the latest operating system and applications that require the muscle of an advanced chipset, processor and other support tools."
"Intel(R) vPro(TM) technology is a hardware and software platform built to change what businesses can expect from their PCs," said Robert Crooke, vice president and general manager of Intel's Business Client Group. "The combination of Intel vPro technology and Gateway's E-4610 PC provides large and small businesses with dramatic energy-efficient operation, built-in manageability and proactive security, which means exceptional computing performance, security and cost efficiency."
Leading Performance Delivered with Advanced Technologies
As Gateway's performance professional desktop, the E-4610 is configurable with a number of powerful technologies and options. The most significant enhancement is the new Intel Q965 chipset, which supports integrated RAID and the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Combined with fast 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and dual monitor support, these components considerably increase the power and system configurability over the system's predecessor, the E-4500.
The new Intel Core 2 Duo processor delivers a 40 percent increase in performance over previous desktop processors(1). This is achieved through improvements in CPU instruction execution, which now performs four executions per clock cycle vs. three and maximizes main memory-to-processor bandwidth and reduces latency.
The E-4610 delivers enhanced video and dual display capabilities. Offering both integrated DVI and VGA ports, professionals can easily connect their monitor to the DVI port for superior video clarity; those using two monitors for more efficient work will find the built-in dual capability extremely convenient. With this functionality, uses can view presentation notes on one monitor and the actual slide show on another or see an enlarged version of a single application or image spread across two monitors. In addition, all Gateway LCD monitors come with both DVI- and VGA-in ports, for ease-of-use with Gateway desktops.
Gateway Systems Management Software and AMT Deliver Enhanced Manageability
Leading manageability features on the Gateway E-4610 help busy IT departments reduce IT costs by decreasing end-user downtime through advanced administration tools. Working with Gateway's Client and System Manager, Intel's AMT(2) enables remote system tracking, repair and updates, even when systems are powered off or unable to boot.
TPM 1.2 and GatewayShield Provide Enhanced Security, Significantly Reducing Risks
In addition, the Gateway E-4610 also supports Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2, the industry's latest hardware security standard. TPM provides enhanced protection against data theft by encrypting files, authenticating network access and passwords, and safeguarding email communications and file transfers. Ideal for IT-managed environments, PCs with TPM better protect critical applications and capabilities, such as email, web access and local protection of data.
Customers can also configure the E-4610 with GatewayShield(3) for an added layer of protection. This comprehensive security solution includes Internet, data and hardware protection through Symantec(TM) Client Security software, BIOS-embedded Computrace(R) Complete and Kensington cables and locks. GatewayShield can be purchased as a complete package or in separate modules.
Scalable BTX Design Provides Advanced Cooling and High Reliability
Helping businesses meet the computing demands of their growing business, the E-4610 is Windows Vista(TM) capable, and features flexible scalability, offering a choice of three and six bay BTX chassis options, and the ability to configure systems from mainstream to performance.
To keep the high-performance system running smoothly, the E-4610 is built on a BTX design that more efficiently cools internal components, delivering exceptional reliability and longer system life(4). Cooled with two large and quiet fans that provide improved airflow over traditional PCs, the E-4610 will remain cool even when handling power-hungry technology. The innovative, tool-free BTX design also makes it fast and easy to access components without removing the front bezel or replacing optical drive retention screws. Highly scalable, the Gateway E-4610 can be configured as an expandable six-bay mini-tower or space-saving three-bay desktop.
North American Based Telephone Support Provides Superior Quality
While many PC vendors go off-shore to save service costs, Gateway's technical telephone support for U.S. customers is 100-percent based in North America. Customers are assured their calls are handled by knowledgeable, experienced, well-trained and dedicated support agents close to home.
This commitment to superior service and support quality is rooted in the company's newly established Best Practices Center (BPC), based in North Sioux City, SD. The BPC enables Gateway to better serve its customers by bringing together analytics, tools, technology and people to create service and support-related "best practices" that reinforce the company's long-standing commitment to continuous improvement on customer satisfaction. By handling front-line calls, Gateway can build better diagnostic tools and develop quality solutions that will cascade throughout the service organization and in the field with Gateway's partners.
