September 12, 2006 - Featuring rigid boxway design that dampens vibration at cut, Model GX 1000 B is equipped with 17.3 hp spindle providing speeds up to 8,000 rpm. Table is 47.2 x 19.68 in. with weight capacity of 1,540 lb. Machine offers XYZ travels of 40 x 24 x 22 in. with rapid rates of 1,181 ipm. Additional features include 20-tool Automatic Tool Changer, cast iron C-frame, and Fanuc control.

New Bridgeport Boxway VMC to be on Display at IMTS '06


ELMIRA, NEW YORK: Bridgeport returns to its heritage, by thinking inside the box and introducing the all-new GX 1000 B, boxway machining center. Distinguished by an extremely generous 24" y-axis travel, plus best in class specifications and performance capabilities the GX 1000 B is offered at an unbeatable introductory price of $59,990. This new addition to Bridgeport's expanding line of popular machining centers will be demonstrated in the Hardinge booth number A-8032 at the 2006 International Manufacturing Technology Show (Sept. 6-13, 2006).

"We're pleased to add boxway machines to our extensive line of linear guideway vertical and horizontal machining centers," said Pat Ervin, CEO, President and Chairman of the Board. "We feel that this addition will allow our customers to better match the machine to the application. The boxway machine offers excellent rigidity for heavy machining operations and high metal removal rates."

The rigid boxway design significantly dampens vibration at the cut, thus offering excellent surface finishes, longer tool life and the ability to take deep, heavy cuts."
