Imation Brings Highly Anticipated HD DVD Media to Business Market

Addition to Optical Media Portfolio Offers Businesses More Choices in High Capacity, High Definition Storage

OAKDALE, Minn., Aug. 21 -- Imation Corp (NYSE:IMN), a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, today announced the availability of its first recordable HD DVD media. Now, Imation HD DVD and Imation Blu-ray media, which was announced last month, provide businesses of all sizes with a high-capacity solution for managing their growing quantity of critical data storage. Available in single-layer, Imation HD DVD can store up to 15GB of digital files -- three times the capacity of standard DVDs -- and are ideal for reliable data and image storage, including medical and government imaging, photography, videography, as well as high definition video recording.

"Imation understands the ever-growing storage needs of today's businesses and the need for a wide-range of innovative solutions to meet those needs," said Jim Milligan, general manager, Imation Commercial and OEM Division. "Today's release of Imation HD DVD provides businesses with a format choice for their high definition recording needs and demonstrates Imation's continued commitment to offer a variety of quality options to store and transfer critical data."

Imation's release of HD DVD comes at a time when businesses are producing more data than ever before. Data storage requirements are expected to triple by the end of the decade with email proliferation, more stringent compliance requirements and as businesses continue to produce more multi-media content that needs to be stored in a digital environment.

Imation's high-definition recordable media offer supreme quality and are an ideal and efficient backup and archive solution for organizations of all sizes with high-capacity data storage needs. HD DVD discs also allow for recording of high-definition television and video content, with crystal-clear picture and sound quality.

Imation HD DVD media, similar to Imation Blu-ray discs, are produced with a unique protective coating that provides scratch-resistance, anti-static dust resistance, and smear-resistance, ensuring a more durable and protected media surface. For even greater storage, Imation will also manufacture double-layer HD DVD later this year, delivering 30 GB of capacity on a single disc -- six times the capacity of standard DVD discs.

Individually packaged Imation HD DVD recordable single layer discs are now available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $19.99. For more information on Imation HD DVD discs and where to buy them, go to http://www.imation.com/products/dvd_media/ .

With more than 25 years of optical disc technology expertise, dating to the introduction of the first video disc in 1982, Imation continues to pioneer superior optical media production technologies. In 2005, the company invested more than $10 million in advanced research, development, and modular manufacturing capabilities for "blue laser" high-density optical products, and is among the first companies to bring this new format to market. Imation is a contributing member of the DVD Forum, which supports the HD DVD format, and the Blu-ray Disc Association, which supports the Blu-ray format.
