Lift Truck Brake eliminates need for bolt on friction rotor.

August 10, 2006 - Constructed from high strength ductile iron, Model LWB lift truck brake utilizes wheel rim center hub as friction surface, removing need for friction rotor. Hydraulic actuated, full circle disk brake acts as spindle and bearing support for load wheel, using its thermal mass to absorb heat and minimize temperature rises. Secondary wiper seals protect piston seals, while deflector plate prevents entanglement of foreign objects. All LWB brake components are corrosion protected.

New Lift Truck Brake Eliminates the Need for a Bolt On Friction Rotor

Bloomington, Indiana - June 5, 2006 - Carlisle Industrial Brake & Friction introduces a new compact, hydraulic actuated, full circle disc brake designed for fork lifts and related equipment. Model LWB utilizes the center hub of the wheel rim as one of the friction surfaces to eliminate the need for a bolt on friction rotor. This easy-to-install brake is constructed from high strength ductile iron and uses Carlisle asbestos-free friction material for reliable stopping and a long service life.

Secondary wiper seals protect the LWB brake piston seals and a deflector plate prevents foreign objects from becoming entangled in the piston. The piston seals are designed to minimize fluid displacement and are available with a variety of seal materials. All LWB brake components come with corrosion protection.

LWB brakes act as a spindle and bearing support for the load wheel and minimize brake temperature rises by using the thermal mass of the wheel to absorb heat. The brake is easily adapted to alternative spindle-type brake applications such as reach type lift trucks, scissor lifts and aerial work platforms.

Carlisle brake system products include hydraulic disc brakes for service and park brake applications, mechanical park brakes, full circle brakes, motor brakes, hydraulic brake valves, and hydraulic/electric trailer brake actuators. The company produces friction products for such varied applications as on- and off-highway vehicles, industrial equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and consumer appliances.
