MAINMAN® Crane & Hoist Inspection Minimizes Downtime and Maximizes ROI

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO (July 14, 2006) Konecranes delivers improved maintenance for lifting equipment through its new crane and hoist inspection service. MAINMAN® crane and hoist inspection is a multi-point visual inspection of overhead lifting equipment enhanced by Konecranes proprietary software. Inspection results are delivered in a detailed report that can be hand delivered or accessed through the Internet. The reports alert customers of maintenance problems and points out areas that are not in compliance to OSHA standards. Companies use the MAINMAN crane and hoist inspection service because it assists in regulatory compliance, minimizes downtime, and maximizes the return on investment.

"There are literally hundreds of specific maintenance requirements on the MAINMAN check list for cranes and hoists," says Tom Sothard, President of Konecranes Maintenance Services. "This service provides customers with peace of mind that their equipment is operating efficiently and effectively, while taking the proper steps to comply with regulatory standards."

All MAINMAN inspections are performed by trained inspectors who are certified to KCI-Masters standards. Konecranes inspectors undergo a comprehensive training program that involves over 8,500 hours of classroom and on-the-job training in industry-leading technologies on all makes and models of equipment.

"Our expertise is in the operation of the equipment," says one MAINMAN customer. "Keeping up with all the maintenance regulations is a time consuming process that takes us away from our area of strength and reduces our ability to produce revenue. MAINMAN inspections simplify our business by taking the mystery out of OSHA compliance and by informing us on exactly what specific maintenance issues need to be addressed. We leave it to the crane experts to concentrate on their area of expertise so we can concentrate on ours."

MAINMAN customized reports capture data on the condition of hundreds of equipment components and satisfies regulatory requirements. Inspectors pinpoint safety and compliance issues and monitor critical items that can result in equipment down time. Recommendations for preventative maintenance are prioritized by safety conditions, production risks and inconsequential findings.

"Cranes are the workhorse in many industries," says Mike Williams, Vice President of Konecranes. "They undergo heavy stress and therefore require constant attention. The proven benefits of a regular maintenance program include improved up-time, increased safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness."

The MAINMAN inspection services all makes of cranes and hoists and identifies equipment using either customer language or Konecranes ID system. Equipment that requires the most attention can be easily viewed for immediate action or budgeting.

Customers that are committed to a regular maintenance program can expect 10-20% savings on the lifetime expenses of equipment. The MAINMAN inspection service results in fewer safety failures, reduced production consequences and a steady increase in equipment reliability.

Konecranes is a global leader in crane technology that provides design, engineering, and innovation of reliable, high performance overhead lifting solutions and maintenance services for both light and heavy-duty cranes of every make.
