YIG Oscillators provide phase noise better than -105 dBc/Hz.
August 3, 2006 -
Micro-YIG and Mini-YIG are YIG (Yttrium Iron Garnet) frequency sources that provide ±450 MHz and ±1 GHz tunable bandwidths respectively. Their 3-10 and 3-11 GHz output frequencies minimize spurious signals in advanced radars, while shock-mounting techniques minimize microphonics. Products can be operated in unlocked free-running mode, providing phase noise better than -105 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset and -128 dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz offset.

Endwave YIG Oscillators Provide Superior Phase Noise
SUNNYVALE, CA--Endwave Defense Systems, a manufacturer of RF subsystems and components for defense and homeland security applications, has announced the release of their YIG (Yttrium Iron Garnet) frequency sources with high spectral purity needed for FMCW radar, microwave point-to-point radio, and instrumentation applications. Aside from their low close-in noise characteristic, they provide large tunable bandwidths in comparison to Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (DRO). Endwave provides YIGs up through Ku-Band, and these high fundamental frequencies also minimize spurious signals in advanced radars. Proprietary shock-mounting techniques minimize microphonics.
Endwave's latest YIGS are available in 2 configurations, Micro-YIG and Mini-YIG, to address a range of packaging and operating parameters. These YIG Oscillators can be operated in an unlocked free-running mode, providing phase noise better than -105 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset, and -128 dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz offset. In addition, these Local Oscillators can be combined with phase-lock loop circuitry to form full synthesizer solutions.
