Marketworks Announces Launch of U.S. Managed eCommerce Solution

ATLANTA, June 13 -- Marketworks, the leading multi-channel ecommerce software solution provider, today announced the launch of their U.S. Managed eCommerce Solution.

The new managed ecommerce offering from Marketworks, which expands on its success in Europe, provides customers with a complete outsourced ecommerce solution that includes technology, online marketing expertise and day-to-day ecommerce operations. As part of the solution, managed ecommerce customers gain access to online marketplaces, shopping comparison sites and search-based buying. Every minute, over one million Internet buyers are shopping online, and ecommerce accounts for eight percent of total retail spending. As a result, businesses increasingly have recognized the need for an ecommerce selling presence, yet often lack the know-how, technology and resources to execute.

"Most businesses do not transact online in a material way, however, believe they should," said Ken Powell, chief executive officer, Marketworks. "By utilizing our comprehensive Managed eCommerce Solution, organizations quickly begin to generate incremental revenue from online sales, without any noticeable change on their end. Our offering has been a tremendous success in the United Kingdom, with more than a dozen manufacturers engaged with Marketworks to move all types of inventory. In response to that success, we are now providing a fully-managed ecommerce offering for clients in the U.S."

The managed ecommerce storefront solution from Marketworks will help customers sell excess and Class A inventory to new and existing customers. "Our ecommerce engine gives customers access to hundreds of millions of online shoppers, but access doesn't equal success," continued Powell. "It's our online sales and marketing expertise, and day-to-day counsel that deliver the full value of Marketworks."

Each managed ecommerce customer works with a dedicated account manager who creates a merchandising plan that incorporates Marketworks' knowledge in online channels, competitor products, online pricing and promotions.

Companies such as 3M, Brother and B&Q currently use Marketworks' Managed eCommerce Solution. Vodafone is also a Marketworks managed ecommerce customer in the U.K. "We really needed to initiate a new way to move handsets quickly with maximum returns," said Simon Griffiths, liquidation manager, Vodafone. "The spares market is unpredictable and can often reach saturation - and the retail environment doesn't favor older handsets."

The Managed eCommerce Solution from Marketworks includes the award-winning multi-channel eCommerce Engine, ecommerce Web site design, online marketing services, daily operations and customer support management and warehousing and fulfillment. Marketworks' technology integrates with a company's existing systems - such as order or inventory management programs. Typically, Marketworks can launch a comprehensive ecommerce storefront site in a few weeks. "It's a complete ecommerce Web site solution," said Terry Bruehl, vice president of services, Marketworks. "We provide everything from building and marketing the Web site to handling customer support and order fulfillment."

Marketworks' managed ecommerce services solution is available in the U.S. today.
