Open Source Storage, Inc. Introduces Servers Based on Intel's Dual-Core LV Processor
Low-Power Processor Cuts Energy Use in Half
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 7 / -- Open Source Storage, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise server and storage solutions for mission critical business data centers, is introducing servers based on the new Dual Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor Low Voltage 2GHz (code named Sossaman).
The Open Series 1000 LP are multi-core enterprise platforms that support the new dual-core Intel Xeon processors LV, utilizing only a 31W processor power envelope enabling the system to run efficiently on minimal cooling and while generating low heat and low fan noise. The low-voltage solutions gain from lower thermal design power making it ideal for thermally-sensitive, space-constrained cluster environments and data centers.
The Dual Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor LV 2GHz will enable Open Source Storage customers to leverage leading performance with low power consumption, higher reliability and increased efficiency. Based on the widely deployed Intel(R) E7520 server chipset, the new processors feature Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(R) Technology (EIST) to reduce power consumption while matching performance to application demands.
"Our new products based on the dual-core LV processor are very exciting," said Jared Giles, Director of Marketing for Open Source Storage. "This architecture allows us to provide our customers with the processing power they demand, while substantially reducing power consumption. This is a tremendous benefit for those who don't have unlimited power resources at their facilities."
