J. J. Keller Introduces New Lockout/Tagout Program

Neenah, WI - J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. has just introduced Lockout/Tagout: Your Key to Safety, a new video-based training program designed to help companies minimize risk while complying with the Control of Hazardous Energy Standard (Lockout/Tagout) (Part 1910.147).

The program uses a "risk control" approach that introduces employees to everyday lockout/tagout situations that threaten the safety of the video's characters, followed by on-the-spot quiz questions. This approach helps keep employees involved by dramatizing the ways in which lockout/tagout procedures are important to their safety and that of their coworkers.

The program also provides a demonstration of a complete lockout procedure from shut-down to start-up, concentrating on the areas of proper shutdown and deactivation of residual energy from all sources. It shows employees how to help promote safety by following a general plan of protection or developing a specific plan for specific types of equipment. Among the topics covered: lockout at shift changes, group lockout and outside contractors.

Along with the video, the program includes an instructor's guide that provides background information, training tips, practice risk scenarios, and log pages to track participation; 11 employee handbooks with detailed lockout/tagout information and an employee receipt for proof of training; and an awareness poster that reminds employees of the importance of following proper lockout/tagout procedures. Additional copies of these materials, to train more employees, are available separately. A "Trainer's Tools" CD-ROM is also included and contains transparency masters, quizzes with answer keys, hazard communication terms and abbreviations, clip art and posters that allows companies to customize training sessions.

J. J. Keller's Lockout/Tagout: Your Key to Safety training program is available on DVD for $345 (328-DVD), or VHS (328-K) for $279. The DVD format includes a special "Message for Management," informative commentary, an interactive quiz with correct/incorrect remediation, and a checklist of key lockout/tagout information. The DVD version also includes menu and chapter selections that allow for navigation and random access of topics. These programs can be ordered by calling 1-800-327-6868. Callers should reference Action Code 02109 when ordering.
