Wrench promotes efficiency and accuracy in tight areas.

May 16, 2006 - Available in 3/8 and ½ in. flex-ratchet sizes, TechAngle(TM) Torque and Angle Wrench allows technician to apply torque load and then read out additional applied angle with one tool. Torque plus angle method helps remove friction and variability from process by specifying torque preload and additional angle of rotation to predict bolt stretch and applied torque. In addition to ignoring reverse rotation, wrench beeps and vibrates when technician ratchets to angle preset.

Innovative Snap-on Torque and Angle Wrench Provides Unprecedented Efficiency and Accuracy

Technicians Save Time with the TechAngle(TM) Wrench

KENOSHA, Wis. (April 9, 2006) - Revolutionary in concept and execution, Snap-on's new TechAngle wrench uses leading-edge, patented technology to save time and increase accuracy and quality.

Many technicians are likely familiar with torque plus angle specifications. Aluminum blocks and heads, composite gaskets and high loads on lightweight assemblies have driven automotive engineers to find better ways to ensure proper torque. The torque plus angle method helps take friction and variability out of the process by specifying a torque preload and an additional angle of rotation to more accurately predict bolt stretch and applied torque.

This method has often meant the service technician would use a protractor/angle gauge, sometimes trying to install it in very tight quarters, to measure the additional torque angle. And the gauge had to anchor on each bolt as technicians went around the assembly, which can be very time consuming.

The Snap-on TechAngle wrench uses the latest computer technology based on the same gyroscopes that keep helicopters flying level to allow the technician to apply a torque load, and then to read out the additional applied angle with one simple-to-use tool. No need to turn by estimate. No protractors. No fitting stuff into tight places.

In two studied applications (Chevy 5.7L V8 and Ford 3.8L V6), the TechAngle wrench saved between two and five minutes per head bolt, which saves a total of 68 to 80 minutes of book time versus a conventional torque angle gauge. This allows professional technicians to book more hours with fewer customer comebacks.

The TechAngle Torque and Angle Wrench is available in the most popular 3/8-inch and ½-inch flex-ratchet sizes. Before the TechAngle wrench was introduced, an angle gauge had to be used with the reference arm set up for each head bolt. Now the TechAngle wrench streamlines this process by making it one easy step. At a touch of a button, TechAngle wrench can measure in inch-pounds, foot-pounds, Newton Meters and degrees. It does the work of four conventional torque wrenches.

The TechAngle wrench also ignores reverse rotation, which increases efficiency, especially in tight spaces. Furthermore, when a technician ratchets to an angle preset, the wrench beeps and vibrates, and the technician will know the proper torque and angle on a fastener have been used because the tool's peak function shows actual torque and angle applied for more precision. The TechAngle wrench is perfect for professional automotive repair shops, where time and accuracy are crucial to business.

"Our TechAngle Torque and Angle Wrench gives technicians confidence in tightening bolts with precision and efficiency," said Andy Lobo, Torque Product Manager, Snap-on Tools. "Snap-on is committed to developing innovative tools that provide tool users with the functionality to get jobs done quickly and accurately."

Customers can find out more about the Snap-on TechAngle wrench by contacting their local Snap-on representative, visiting www.snapon.com or calling tool free 877-SNAPON-2 (877-762-7662).
