Memorex Adds New LightScribe Technology to DVD+R Media

Consumers Can Quickly and Easily Inscribe Custom Label Art Directly Onto Memorex DVD+R LightScribe Media

CERRITOS, Calif., May 9 -- Memorex(R), the leading brand of optical media at U.S. retail and a division of Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN), expands its LightScribe(TM) recordable media offerings to include the newest and fastest LightScribe(TM) technology. New Memorex 16X DVD+R LightScribe media allows for stunning, laser-etched designs right on the disc surface, giving consumers a no-hassle way to burn silkscreen-quality disc prints. Featuring LightScribe Media Version 1.2 technology, the new discs produce disc designs even faster than the previous version.

With Memorex LightScribe media and a LightScribe-enabled computer drive, consumers can create custom labels using photos, graphics and text, and then inscribe the designs directly onto the specially coated, scratch-resistant discs. Memorex's new 16X DVD+R discs with LightScribe Media Version 1.2 offer maximum data recording speeds and faster label creation than first generation LightScribe DVDs. Memorex was one of the very first media brands to offer LightScribe CD and DVD recording media at North American retail.

Memorex 16X DVD+R LightScribe media, available now in a package of 10, is perfect for recording home movies, creating multimedia presentations, archiving photos and preserving important data. The write-once discs store 4.7 GB of data or approximately 120 minutes of video in SP mode.

"Consumers are finding more ways to make the most of the high capacity and versatility of DVD media, and they want to bring their creations to the next level of personalization," said David Dorantes, marketing manager, optical media, for Memorex. "Memorex brings the latest LightScribe technology to retail so consumers can create sharp, imprinted designs right on the disc, much like the pros do."

Using Memorex LightScribe DVDs and a LightScribe-enabled drive, consumers can simply burn the data side of the disc as usual, then flip the disc over and use the same drive to burn a custom label with their desired text and graphics. Current owners of LightScribe drives will be able to update their drive firmware to take advantage of the advanced features of LightScribe Media Version 1.2.

More than 8.6 million LightScribe-enabled drives have been shipped since the launch of LightScribe technology in January 2005, according to HP, the licensor of LightScribe technology. Memorex leads the DVD recordable media category with 28 percent U.S. retail market share through the first quarter of 2006 based on dollar share, according to The NPD Group. In 2005, Memorex was number one in the DVD recordable media category for the fourth year in a row.

Availability and Pricing
Memorex 16X DVD+R media with LightScribe Media Version 1.2 is now available in a package of 10 for a suggested retail price of $9.99. Memorex will also be adding LightScribe Version 1.2 technology to its LightScribe CDs, available in packages of 10 and 20 for an SRP of $11.99 and $14.99, respectively. Memorex recordable media is sold in 23 of the nation's top 25 consumer electronics retailers including Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Kmart, Office Depot, OfficeMax, RadioShack, Staples, Target, Walgreens and Wal-Mart.
