Infrastructure Enhancements Allow Seamless Integration Between Postini and Customer IT Solutions
Native Directory Synchronization Automates User Change Management and Policy Applications; Single Sign-On Interface Enables Simple, Authenticated and Integrated Access
SAN CARLOS, Calif., May 8 -- Postini, the global leader in Integrated Message Management, today announced the immediate availability of two new administration solutions that more tightly integrate the Postini message management services platform with customers' existing IT systems.
Postini's Directory Sync capability and Single Sign-On (SSO) interface allow users, policies, authentication and authorizations to be defined at the customer premise and automatically and seamlessly synchronized with Postini's services infrastructure. Tight, real-time integration with customer user management resources ensures that Postini policies for securing and governing corporate electronic communications are in lock-step with corporate policies. Given the current role of regulations and compliance standards, governing user access and auditing user activity have never been more important.
"Postini's directory synchronization allows us to automatically update our District Postini user directory without having to go to the admin console every time I add or delete a user," said Ted Larison, director of technology, Homer Central School. Postini's patented message processing architecture is unique in offering fine-grained policy controls that enable message processing rules on inbound and outbound content, for email and instant messaging traffic, based on global, group or user requirements. With Directory Sync, changes made at the customer premise are reflected immediately and automatically in the Postini system. With Directory Sync, Postini is able to collect a list of authorized users and aliases from the directory server and keep it in sync as records change. Directory Sync saves time and effort by automatically recognizing and reflecting changes to Microsoft Active Directory, Domino, Sun ONE and any other DSML compliant directory. Postini Directory Sync allows full support for email, aliases and IM screen names to be mapped to content policy rules in the Postini system.
With Postini's single sign-on capability, users no longer need to manage and recall multiple passwords and authentication information in order to access their messaging systems. As corporate IT enforces centralized access control and password policy management, with on-premise single sign-on solutions, Postini can seamlessly integrate into these identity management resources. Either via proprietary secure interfaces, or via the SAML standard, Postini provides a simple and cost effective way for IT to govern access and authorizations of the Postini services based on internal corporate policies.
