TORNADO Adds New High Speed Powerline Solution
Spijkenisse, the Netherlands - After the successful introduction of the Tornado 251 WirePlus® for extending wifi signal over regular (copper) phone wires, TORNADO, supplier of computer peripherals, now also announces a new addition to their productrange for high-speed powerline networking: the Tornado 151. This HomePlug Ethernet adapter enables its users to easily create a high-speed (home) network by using the electricity grid of one's house. With this addition, TORNADO provides a cost-effective network solution for the small office and home office environment.
The Tornado 151 is a HomePlug ethernet adapter that uses the electricity grid and turns every electricity outlet into a network connection. Within this network, it's easy to share files and music but also available printers and even a (broadband) internet connection. The cable of the Tornado 151 is, on one side, connected to an ethernet connection of a PC, laptop or router and on the other side plugged into a nearest electricity outlet. A second Tornado 151 is plugged and connected in the same way, but on a different location in the building. The two are now connected to each other.
In this way, a small home network can be easily created or a PC/laptop can easily be added to an existing network within a maximum range of 200 meters. The maximum data transfer over the network is 85 Mbps and therefore extremely suitable for high-bandwidth multimedia applications e.g. online gaming, High Definition IPTV, VoIP, etc. The Tornado 151 is also equipped with 56bit DES encryption that ensures the network being protected from unwanted users or hackers. Implementing the Tornado 151 is easy and can be self-installed.
The Tornado 151 HomePlug set consists of two HomePlug Ethernet adapters and is available from May 2006.
