Small Form Factor Inverters power CCFL-backlit LCDs.

May 3, 2006 - Offered in open frame and vacuum encapsulated versions, dc-ac inverters can power up to 2 CCFLs. S Series, which measures 2.87 x 0.62 x 0.38 in. and weighs 12 g, handles up to 5 W of output power and comes in 5 and 12 V designs. SE Series dc-ac inverter, featuring same form factor as S Series, is vacuum encapsulated to provide resistance to shock, vibration, and humidity. Both inverter Series feature -20 to +70ºC operating temperature range and are PCB-mountable.

ERG Offers CCFL Inverter with Smallest Form Factor in Open Frame and Vacuum Encapsulated Versions

Endicott, NY, May 2006 - Endicott Research Group (ERG), manufacturer of the world's largest selection of inverters for powering CCFL-backlit LCDs, now offers the inverter with the smallest form factor in both open frame and vacuum encapsulated versions.

The S Series DC-AC inverter can power up to 2 CCFL's (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) and measures only 0.62" wide x 2.87" long x 0.38" high (15.85mm x 72.8 mm x 9.65mm) and weighs only 12 grams. This low-profile inverter can handle up to 5 watts of output power and is available in standard 5v and 12v designs. Custom input voltages from 3.3v to 48v DC can be designed upon request. These cost-effective, highly efficient inverters are the space-saving solution for powering single or dual lamp LCDs. Applications include signature capture devices, Mobile POS terminals and navigation/GPS systems. The S Series is also widely used in embedded designs.

The SE Series DC-AC inverter employs the same form factor as the S Series but is vacuum encapsulated - a design unique to ERG - to provide maximum reliability and excellent resistance to shock, vibration and humidity. It's the ideal solution for single-lamp or dual lamp applications where compact size, high efficiency, resistance to harsh environments and absolute reliability are critical. The SE Series measures only 0.75" wide x 2.98" long x 0.42" high (19.1mm x 75.7mm x 10.66mm). Applications include industrial and medical handheld instrumentation and secure card payment terminals. ERG's SE2 Series utilizes the same small footprint and vacuum encapsulated design to power 2 lamps.

Both inverter Series feature an operating temperature range of -20ºC to 70ºC, are PC mountable and are designed, manufactured and supported in the USA. Variations of the S and SE Series are available for LCDs from virtually every major panel manufacturer.

"The S and SE/SE2 Series are a perfect example of the flexibility ERG is able to offer," said Bill Abbott, Global Market Strategist. "ERG remains the only place engineers need go to meet any LCD inverter requirement."

The S and SE Series are also available in "generic" off-the-shelf D Series inverters for customers who need an inverter right away for evaluation.

Pricing for S Series inverters is $7.32 each in production quantities. Pricing for SE Series inverters is $9.80 each in production quantities. Delivery is 2-4 weeks, A.R.O. For details, contact ERG.
