Fingerprint Reader utilizes radio frequency technology.

June 2, 2006 - Offered as high-speed 2.0 USB device, S1 fingerprint reader uses RF technology to read inner layer of fingerprint and accurately capture data point minutiae, regardless of how well-defined individual ridges and valleys are in fingerprint or moisture content of finger. Portable, compact RF fingerprint swipe sensor delivers 508 dpi resolution, supports Win XP/2000, and comes with replaceable mini USB cable and SX-Biometrics Suite software.

silex technology Launches Radio Frequency (RF) Fingerprint Reader

New S1 silex Fingerprint Reader Provides Superior Fingerprint Authentication Performance

SALT LAKE CITY, May 1 / -- silex technology america, Inc. today announced the release of the S1 fingerprint reader which uses Radio Frequency (RF) technology to read the inner layer of a fingerprint, allowing the sensor to more accurately capture minutiae data points.

"When using the S1 fingerprint reader, our customers can be confident they are receiving the highest level of security possible," said Gary Bradt, silex vice president, biometrics division. "silex's proprietary algorithm provides a higher level of functionality for all users or potential users because it no longer matters how well-defined individual ridges and valleys are in a fingerprint or the moisture content of a person's finger."

The S1 incorporates the latest technology that allows the device to track the rate a finger swipes the sensor and then accurately re-creates the image. Most biometric readers contain a silicon dye which can cause inaccurate readings when it makes contact with the human finger. This new technology allows radio frequency to penetrate deep into the inner layer of the human finger, providing a more accurate reading. This is especially the case when dealing with fingers that have very shallow fingerprint ridges, typically found on those who work with their hands in manual labor such as concrete workers or for individuals who have uncommonly wet or dry fingers.

"This device falls in line with our goal of providing the most accurate biometric solutions available for both physical and logical access," continued Bradt. "The S1 fingerprint reader makes authentication a possibility for everyone and is compatible with all of our other logical security devices."

S1 Fingerprint Reader

The S1 fingerprint reader is a compact RF fingerprint swipe sensor that uses silex's proprietary authentication analysis technology to make biometric fingerprint authentication available to everyone. It is designed to increase security, eliminate resistance to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and replace passwords with a fingerprint and will only allow the authorized user's fingerprint to unlock files.
