High-temp Furnaces for High Speed Steel Processing
A line of high temperature box furnaces (HS Series), ideal for processing high speed tools steels, is now available from Lucifer Furnaces, Inc., Warrington, Pa.
Designed for 2450E F operation, the furnaces employ silicon carbide heating elements which are controlled off the line with an SCR power supply. The SCR automatically compensates for changes in element resistance and proportions the lowest power input, providing a steady state control. This unique control package simplifies furnace operation by eliminating the manual adjustment of tap switches and saves money on initial purchase by replacing the large power transformer, selector switches and oversized contactors. A built-in aging factor of 200% ensures excellent element life.
The furnace chamber is lined with premium grades of lightweight ceramic fiber, providing fast heat and quick recovery rates. (Heats to 2200E F in 55 minutes) The fiber insulation reduces the power demand to heat the chamber by 70% which lowers the overall KW requirements and utility costs.
The HS Series provides outstanding performance for applications between 1500 - 2450E F.
In contrast to the HS Series, other furnace alternatives, such as wire wound type models and traditional silicon carbide furnaces, have notrable drawbacks. For example, wire wound models are often subject to early element failure at the highest temperature range while the more expensive silicon carbide furnaces require high power consumption, thick brick linings, large power transformer and tap switches.
The HS Models are designed for automatic, simple, safe and dependable operation and include these additional standard features:
Heavy gauge sheet steel construction; digital temperature controller; platinum/rhodium thermocouple; double-pivot horizontal swing door; silicon carbide hearth plate, and compact space saving design.
Available in single and dual chamber models in ten standard sizes from 6"H x 6"W x 12"L to 12"H x 18"W x 24"L.
All furnaces are completely prewired, assembled, test fired at the factory and shipped ready for connection to 230 volt main power supply. Options include gas tight construction for protective atmospheres, overtemperature protection.
