New Videojet 3320 Laser Coder Matches High-Speed Production Lines with Reliable Performance

WOOD DALE, Ill. (USA) - April 14, 2006 - The fastest laser coder in its class, the new Videojet® 3320 from Videojet Technologies Inc. creates consistent, crisp marks on high-speed production lines. The 3320 seamlessly integrates into virtually any application that requires permanent marking of variable data on substrates such as glass, plastic, rubber, cardboard and labels. Permanent codes, bar codes and logos can help prevent counterfeiting of products in bottles and jars, electronic housings, sensors, connectors, profiles, tubes, and extruded rubber and plastic parts.

"Specifically designed for reliability and minimal running costs, the Videojet 3320 laser coder has virtually maintenance-free operation over thousands of hours," said Ekkehard Baum, product manager for Videojet. "There are no conventional consumable costs - such as inks, compressed air or solvents - and the laser tube life is prolonged by an optimized air-cooling system."

The Videojet 3320 laser coder prints standard and 2D bar codes, expiration dates, batch and lot codes, serial numbers, symbols, and manufacturer names and logos at a rate of 1,300 characters per second (for line speeds up to 15 product marks per second). It will accept most common data formats to enable use of standard CAD and graphics programs.

For simple operation, the laser coder can be controlled using a hand-held controller or online via an external device such as a programmable logic controller, PC or a host computer with Ethernet, USB or RS232/422. Generating jobs is quick and easy with the Windows®-based software SmartGraph(TM), which also provides multiple password-protected security levels.

To fit in crowded or tight spaces, the compact 3320 is capable of 0-degree (straight-out) or 90-degree laser output; the head can be detached and positioned for even the most intricate marking jobs. A pilot laser option facilitates and accelerates alignment, which is critical when switching to a new marking job. The marking and supply units are housed in IP54-rated stainless steel. For harsh and washdown environments, IP65-rated protection is also available.

For more information about the Videojet 3320 laser coder, call 800-843-3610 or visit www.videojet.com.
