Mercury Computer Systems Announces the Release of VistaNav Version 1.6 3D Synthetic Vision System with Exclusive 'Radar Vectors' Feature

LAKELAND, Fla., April 4 /-- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRCY) announced the release of VistaNav(TM) version 1.6, its multi-function flight display system with synthetic vision technology, at the 32nd Annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-In conference in Lakeland, Florida. The latest release of the VistaNav system includes Mercury's new, patent-pending "Radar Vectors" functionality. The "Radar Vectors" feature provides 3D guidance during non-standard routings such as radar vector navigation or course deviations around traffic and weather. In addition, VistaNav 1.6 weather support upgrade includes winds aloft, lightning and freezing levels.

"VistaNav's new 'Radar Vectors' functionality provides pilots with seamless synthetic vision guidance," said Philippe Roy, Director of the Visualization & Simulation Group, Commercial Imaging and Visualization, Mercury Computer Systems. "Course deviations for traffic and weather avoidance or ATC radar vectoring are a routine part of both VFR and IFR operations. VistaNav is the first navigation system to use 3D Highway-in-the-Sky (HITS) to assist the pilot through this phase of flight, and automatically resumes course or approach navigation when vectoring operations are complete. It is one more way that VistaNav's portable synthetic vision system can reduce pilot workload."

Other enhancements include a new interactive 2D display, enhanced airport search, and flight-planning features, as well as a new simulator for at-home training.

The VistaNav system provides the pilot with a complete portable navigation solution including 3D synthetic vision, HITS flight path guidance, 3D terrain views, and 3D approach display. In addition to its synthetic vision features, VistaNav can display 2D navigation in either full or split-screen formats.

The VistaNav system includes an INU (Inertial Navigation Unit) featuring 3D solid-state inertial sensors, a WAAS-enabled (Wide Area Augmentation System) GPS receiver, and a Bluetooth(R) wireless interface. The unit can be mounted in a number of places inside an aircraft and communicates through a wireless interface using a tablet PC mobile computing platform (MCP). The MCP has a high-resolution 5" x 8" LCD display with a full navigation user interface that allows pilots to manage all phases of flight, from preparation to parking. The entire unit is powered by the aircraft power supply and includes rechargeable batteries that will operate for up to one hour in the event of an aircraft electrical failure. Both the INU and MCP are designed to be removed or installed in an aircraft in less than three minutes.

For more information on VistaNav 1.6, join the Mercury press conference on Wednesday, April 5, at 3:00 p.m. in the Sun 'n Fun Media Building at the Sun 'n Fun conference. Or visit www.mc.com/vistanav. Information on the Mercury VistaNav purchase programs can be requested by phone at 866-627-6951, or 978- 967-1401 for international requests, or by e-mail to webinfo@mc.com.

As with all portable navigation systems, the VistaNav system is intended for backup purposes only.
