Thomas & Betts Expands Kindorf® Angler(TM) Pipe and Conduit Clamp Line

Timesaving Design Now Available in Half-Inch Through Four-Inch Sizes, Including Rigid Series

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - March. 28, 2006 - Thomas & Betts expanded its line of Kindorf® Angler(TM) Pipe and Conduit Clamps to include additional sizes up to four inches and a Rigid Series to custom fit rigid conduit and standard pipe sizes.

"The response we received after introducing the Angler clamps last year was exceptional," said Mark Pfaller, product manager for Thomas & Betts, Construction Products Group. "Contractors reported saving a significant amount of time because the Angler's bent-tab design made the bolts more accessible for tightening. Its one-piece construction also was very convenient during installations."

"The success of the Angler clamps encouraged us to expand the line to include a series that offers a custom fit for rigid conduit and standard pipe, in addition to the Universal Series that we introduced last year. We also expanded both series to 10 sizes, ranging from one-half inch to four inches. The Angler line now meets a much wider variety of applications," Pfaller noted.

The Kindorf® Angler(TM) Pipe and Conduit Clamp is available in two finishes: Galv-Krom®, a gold finish that matches Kindorf strut systems and offers superior corrosion protection, abrasion resistance and service life; and Electrogalv, a silver finish that matches other pre-galvanized or green painted strut systems. Kindorf Angler Pipe and Conduit Clamps are compatible with both 1 1/2-inch and 1 5/8-inch strut systems. The Rigid Series offers a load rating range of 600 pounds to 1,200 pounds, based on size.

The Kindorf Angler Pipe and Conduit Clamp, introduced in May 2005, features an innovative tab design that extends the bolt on a 30-degree angle, enabling a faster installation by providing easier access to the bolt in cramped spaces or in side-by-side installations. Other timesaving innovations include a patent-pending, keyhole-shaped opening in the strap that eliminates the need to unscrew the bolt prior to installation.

The Angler's one-piece design makes it easier to store, carry and handle, eliminating the need to disassemble the clamp prior to installation and reducing the risk of dropping or losing parts. Fewer parts also make inventory management simpler.

Other features include an integrated, rolled threading that provides the same load performance as a hex nut, but is easier to handle with no additional parts; and embossed ribs that strengthen the hooks that connect the strap to the strut, offering the highest load rating of any universal break-apart strap in the industry.
