New Machine Vision Camera Offers 60FPS for High-Speed Applications

Toshiba Teli CS8550DiF Camera Leverages 60 FPS Output for High-Speed Industrial Vision Applications

IRVINE, CA, March 9, 2006 - The CS8550DiF monochrome video camera from Toshiba Teli America, Inc. provides 60 Frame-Per-Second (FPS) double-speed, non-compressed VGA (640x480) output, qualifying it for high-speed applications such as machine vision, barcode reading, semiconductor inspection, and gauging.

"By combining state-of-the-art technologies in design and electronics, the new CS8550DiF delivers performance improvements while at the same time providing a significant price advantage," notes Doug Freck, President/CEO, Toshiba Teli America, Inc. "It is targeted at the quality-sensitive OEM and for analog camera replacement markets."

Based on a high-quality 1/3" progressive scan CCD with a square grid array, this monochrome camera offers plug-and-play ease with its Firewire IEEE1394 interface (400Mbps) that allows full control by a PC without a framegrabber. The camera works in a wide range of lighting conditions all the way down to 4.0 Lux, with functions like backlight compensation and electronic shutter helping to compensate for bright lighting sources.

The camera's mechanically robust construction is suited for harsh environments, while its compact dimensions (49mm x 35mm x 98mm) permit installation in constricted spaces. Other key features include random trigger shutter for capturing images at any given timing cued by an external signal, and compatibility with standard C-mount lenses.
