Wilmington Machinery, NPE Booth #1118, to Unveil New Lumina Large Platen Structural Plastics Injection Molding Series Plus New High Speed Rotary and Small Bottle Blow Molding Machinery.

Wilmington, NORTH CAROLINA --- Wilmington Machinery will unveil its new Lumina LP (Large Platen) Series structural plastics injection molding machine for large part molding using gas assist and structural foam --- at NPE 2006, Booth # 1118, South Hall.

The Lumina LP is a large platen molding machine designed specifically to make large parts. Applications include:

· Plastic pallets and collapsible transport bins

· Construction materials such as lattice and decorative trimmings

· Outdoor irrigation and electrical boxes for below and above ground installations

· Large household and commercial products such as trash containers, roll-around carts

· Outdoor buildings and outdoor storage units and components

· Large underground parts for drainage and septic system applications

· Large Automotive parts

Designed for large parts that require a structural integrity, the Lumina LP has platen sizes up to 110" by 200" and shot sizes up to 300 pounds. Wilmington's unique new Versafil independent nozzle control makes it easy to configure the machine for sequential filling of large parts to increase strength or reduce weight or running multiple molds to reduce cost per part. The improved 5 cylinder clamping system allows the machine to easily convert from structural foam to gas assist processing for more difficult applications The redesigned nozzles and access area reduces set up time for mold changes.

Other products to be featured at NPE by Wilmington Machinery:

The Wilmington High Speed SB (Small Bottle) Series is designed specifically for high speed, high volume single serve dairy, food and juice applications including liquid yogurts 250 to 500 ml. A smaller clamp has been added to handle bottles sizes as small as 80 ml. These machines are economical, extremely simple and can be built with up to 60 cavities at speeds up to 30,000 bottles per hour. Like larger machines, the extrusion rates and layer configuration can be designed to match any application such as white-black-white or barrier bottles.

The Wilmington Series IV blow molding machines are Wilmington's newest series of high-speed rotary blow molding systems. The machines are offered in wide range of clamp sizes and cavitation to fit any application. The Series IV provides single point water connections, simplified on-board pneumatic controls so all functions can be safely and quickly adjusted while in full production from the operator station, motorized traverse for maintenance, motorized mold open / close feature for faster, easier and safer mold change-overs and much more. All wheels are available with any configuration of extruders to cover any mono or multi-layer application.

As an added bonus, Wilmington machinery will be providing a look ahead to its NextGen --- a "next generation" large platen machine featuring a 2-platen hybrid system that utilizes the current design single or dual extruders and 2-stage injection. This press features a linear bearing guidance/traverse system and 4 cylinder/tiebar clamping approach. Benefits include reduce operating cost (low friction), superior force distribution, automatic completely retractable cylinder / tie bars all at no cost premium. The NextGen Machine will be a high tonnage for large solid and foam parts with weights up to 150 pounds. Additional benefits of the NextGen machines include: first in - first out 2 stage accumulator eliminating degradation and providing better melt uniformity. Expected applications include automotive, material handling and drainage systems.

As always, the Wilmington Machinery team will be available to molders looking for that one-of-a-kind plastic processing machine. Wilmington Machinery focuses on highly specialized plastic processing machinery for very unique applications where production machinery is not readily available.

For 35 years, Wilmington Machinery has been designing and building high speed rotary blow molding machines, structural injection foam machines and specialized machinery for the injection molding industry.
