Gel Cushions and Overlay Mattress Products for Anti-Fatigue Applications

Nortech introduces its newest line of Seating and positioning products. Comfa-Gel(TM) uses Nortech's same basic properties used in its therapy gel. Comfa-Gel(TM) products are designed for use by those with a temporary or chronic condition that requires prolonged seating and increased risk of pressure ulcers or for use by those who experience discomfort when seated due to arthritis, lower back pain, or other conditions.

Comfa-Gel(TM) wheelchair cushions are self-leveling; self-adjusting cushions designed to minimize bottoming out, reduce pressure, and provide an extremely stable and comfortable seating surface. Comfa-Gel(TM) accommodates a wide range of body shapes, sizes, and weights. The cushion consists of one gel bladder sealed down the middle to prevent gel pooling and gel migration so that the patient will not bottom out. The gel bladder is sealed between two 1.5" pieces of foam. The cushion is the placed in a tear-resistant non-skid bottom and vinyl top cover. The cover is fluid-proof, antibacterial, easy to clean, and fire-retardant.

Nortech's Comfa-Gel(TM) Cushion with carrying strap has the versatility of being a wheelchair or any seating surface cushion. Constructed internally the same as the Comfa-Gel(TM) wheelchair cushion, this cushion's cover is a vinyl, tear-resistant, fluid-proof, antibacterial, and fire-retardant. The convenient strap for carrying and securing cushion to any chair relieves pressure when sitting in one position for extended periods of time. The cushion is great for sporting events or hard surface seating for long periods of time.

Comfa-Gel(TM) Overlay Mattress for hospital beds is the premier support surface that offers outstanding comfort and pressure reduction. This innovative 35" x 78" x 3" overlay mattress is constructed of three (3) pieces of foam. The bottom layer is sealed to the middle piece of foam. The middle layer has 3 cutouts where four 16" x 18" sturdy plastic bags filled with a lightweight gel formula called a gel bladder are inserted into the three different cutouts for the following body regions: One for the lower body/foot region, two for the middle/lower back region, and one for the head/upper region. A seal down the middle of each gel bladder prevents gel pooling and gel migration so that the patient will not bottom out. Finally the top egg crate layer is sealed on and then placed in a fluid-proof polyurethane-coated nylon cover. The cover is durable, antibacterial, antifungal, and fully unzips for easy cleaning. Four elastic straps secure the corners snugly to the mattress.
