Surface Guard's 55 Series Adhesive Masking Film

Surface Guard, Inc. a custom coater and converter of superior surface protection solutions, announces the 55 series adhesive masking film designed for interior automotive surfaces containing plasticizers. This protective film series provides excellent protection for plastic surfaces containing plasticizers, or where plasticizer migration is an issue.

Surface Guard's 55 series film features a polyolefin film coated with a custom formulated (proprietary) aqueous based acrylic adhesive. The key benefit to the 55 series adhesive film is that it provides medium to high adhesion levels while also providing resistance to plasticizer migration, making this an excellent protective solution for interior automotive surfaces.

Plasticizers are additives in plastics, which make the material softer and more flexible, and are typically found in the vinyl interior automotive parts such as, armrests, heel pads and other textured PVC pieces. Plasticizers "bloom out" of vinyl and when masked can cause the protected surface to become stained. The plasticizers can react with the PSA's (pressure sensitive adhesive) making them gummy, which can cause adhesive residue. Surface Guard's 55 series masking film provides resistance to plasticizer migration found in these surfaces. A wide variety of plasticizers are available so testing on a sample of the specific surface is always recommended, as Surface Guard's 55 series is not resistant to ALL plasticizers.

The 55 series was developed by Surface Guard to protect plasticized automotive applications, and has been shown to work in masking many interior surfaces. The 55 series is typically supplied on 2 or 3 mil polyethylene films (clear and tinted films are available). Surface Guard 55 series can be supplied in widths from 1" up to 80" and in roll lengths up to 15,000'

Surface Guard, Inc. manufactures a complete line of surface protection films designed to protect critical surfaces from scratching, marring and abrasions. The company has an experienced staff with over 100 years of surface protection know-how that prides itself on manufacturing the highest quality protective films and supporting their products with the best service in the industry.
