Lincoln's New Vantage® 400 Engine-Driven Welder/Generator Ideal For Construction, Pipe And Fleet Work

o The Vantage 400 features Lincoln Chopper Technology(TM) to deliver great starts and a smooth arc for stick, downhill pipe, TIG or wire welding
o Four-cylinder, water-cooled 1,800 rpm Perkins® diesel engine
o 400 amps of DC welding output, 19,000 watts peak of 3-Phase and 12,000 watts peak of 1-Phase AC generator power

Cleveland, Ohio- The new Vantage® 400 from The Lincoln Electric Company is one of the most compact 400 amp welder/generators in the construction, pipe or rental fleet market today. Housed in a compact, corrosion-resistant stainless steel case, this rugged unit features Lincoln's Chopper Technology(TM) to deliver great starts and a smooth arc for stick, downhill pipe, TIG or wire welding as well as arc gouging.

The Vantage 400's quiet, smooth-running 1,800 rpm water-cooled, four-cylinder Perkins® diesel engine delivers 400 amps, 36 volts and up to 450 amps, 32 volts of rated DC welding output at 100 percent duty cycle. That's enough to do stick welding with up to ¼-inch diameter electrodes and CV wire welding with up to 3/32-inch wire diameter (3/32 inch E70T-6 wire up to 260 inches per minute) as well as arc gouging with up to 5/16-inch diameter carbons.

The Vantage 400 also generates 19,000 watts (peak) of 3-Phase 240V AC generator power for industrial equipment, such as a plasma cutter, pump or an inverter welder. The unit also offers 12,000 watts (peak) of 1-Phase AC auxiliary power for lights, grinders and other common construction tools.

The Vantage 400 is the first engine-driven welder in North America to feature VRD(TM) (Voltage Reduction Device(TM)) as a standard feature. VRD allows the operator to select a lower open circuit voltage for added safety in the CC-Stick welding mode, especially when working in an environment with a higher risk of electrical shock, such as wet areas and hot, humid sweaty conditions.

Standard engine gauges allow operators to monitor engine performance at a glance. Digital meters for welding amps and volts that allow the operator to monitor welding performance are also standard. The 15-gallon fuel tank allows extended run times (more than 12 hours at 400 amps).

The Vantage 400 is simple to operate: just select one of four process modes, including CC-Stick, Downhill Pipe (for stick), Touch-Start(TM) DC TIG or CV Wire, and then dial in the desired output.

The unit's standard stainless steel roof, side panels and engine-access door deliver added protection, durability and corrosion-resistance, while eliminating the need to paint or replace rusting panels. The machine also is loaded with innovative service access features, such as a sliding (and removable) locking engine-access door, providing ample space to work on the engine or change the oil filter. A battery drawer on the front of the machine and a top-mounted radiator cap cover allow convenient tool-less access to these systems. In addition, a patent-pending tilt-down control panel provides easy access to service internal components when necessary. The Vantage 400 is backed by a three-year Lincoln warranty. (The engine is warranted separately by the manufacturer.)

The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic, arc-welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market. The Company is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year.
