LogicaCMG Launches First Open Push Email Solution for Operators
BARCELONA, 3GSM World Congress 2006, February 14/ --- LogicaCMG Enables Operators to Target 'Power Consumers' With New Real-Time Email Service
LogicaCMG today launches the first open Push Email solution for mobile network operators at the 3GSM World Congress 2006, Barcelona. This operator branded solution enables real-time delivery of email messages directly to customers' mobile handsets. LogicaCMG's Push Email will accelerate true convergence across fixed and mobile networks as traditionally internet-based communication tools are extended, along with the same user experience, to the mobile environment.
The Push Email solution is based on an open standards architecture (OMA DS 1.2), allowing operators to plug it into their network infrastructure and offer all existing email services in real-time to a growing range of mobile handsets. In contrast to current mobile email solutions, Push Email allows the operator to directly add value to service delivery, promotions and pricing structures, as well as retaining a direct brand relationship with the customer. Users will visit the operator's website to select delivery options, such as truncating messages to limit file size or placing restrictions on sender sources, to protect memory and battery life.
This new email service will enable operators to target 'power consumers', who want advanced services but do not have the technical background of the 'power user', as well as small and mid-sized business users that want to ensure they are kept fully synchronised with their email communications at all times. The email application is hosted on the operator's network, where it can be integrated with LogicaCMG's Central Address Book (CAB) solution to support an intuitive messaging experience so that users can access their complete contact list and then select which communication channel to use. The mailbox that users view on their handset is a copy of the mailbox at the e-mail server, with larger attachments removed. This turnkey solution is offered by LogicaCMG with O3SIS Information Technology AG, a leading provider of personal mobile applications and Over-the-Air data synchronisation (DS) technology to first tier mobile network operators.
