Kirtas Debuts Fastest Automatic Book Scanner in History APT BookScan 2400

Product Scans 2400 Pages an Hour; Sets New Standard for Quality and Accuracy

VICTOR, N.Y., Jan. 9 / -- Kirtas Technologies today announced the APT BookScan 2400, an automatic book scanner that features unprecedented speed, accuracy, and quality in its category. The APT BookScan 2400 scans 2400 pages of a book in one hour, setting a new benchmark for this technology. The average book can now scan in less than eight minutes, making the APT BookScan the fastest in the world.

"The APT BookScan 2400 provides a remarkable opportunity for unprecedented global information sharing," said Kirtas Founder and CEO Lotfi Belkhir. "This new product revolutionizes the quality and accuracy of digital technology, preserving the integrity of documents while allowing for better search and data management. It is a major advancement in this category."

The APT BookScan 2400 rapidly scans materials using two cameras and a dual processing technique. Image quality improvements include state-of-the-art optics, automatic image enhancement, and deskewing. The preservation of the documents is improved with Smart Cradle(TM) optimum positioning, reducing the stress on the text. Sure Turn(TM) single page pick-up is gentler than the human hand. Automatic batch processing allows for minimal operator intervention.

The APT BookScan 2400 offers search and data management using XML, and document repurposing with OCR for 177 languages. The BookScan Editor provides an automatic batch mode processing operation that performs extensive image post-processing functions. This offers significant image cleanup and enhancement, multiple output options, and an integrated interface for structural metadata.

In addition to the APT BookScan 2400, Kirtas offers the APT BookScan 1200, capable of scanning 1200 pages an hour. Kirtas provides a service bureau for organizations who wish to send their books to the Kirtas team for scanning, creating a finished digitized or hard copy output.

Kirtas Technologies automatic book scanning technology has been recognized with a number of industry awards. The company won Popular Science's "Best of What's New Award" in 2003, and in 2004 Kirtas was named a top five finalist at the World Technology Summit and Awards. Other firms in the top five were Apple, Motorola, AMD, and Google.
