Laser Doppler Vibrometer offers non-contact measurements.

February 2, 2006 - Single-beam VibroMet 500V features solid state laser diode that ensures system receives strong signals at distances up to 5 m. Unit provides measurements at 2 microns/sec and can measure velocities to 1 m/sec. Laser is collimated, so there is no need to adjust focusing lens. Visible beam facilitates point and measure operation. Applications include measurement of turbine blades; automobile engines, body parts and mufflers; computer disk drives; and optical systems.

MetroLaser Introduces the VibroMet(TM) 500V Laser Doppler Vibrometer

New Features Make This Vibrometer Easier to Use for Quick and Accurate Non-Contact Vibration Measurement

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 25-- MetroLaser, Inc., a leader in laser-based measurement technologies, today unveiled the VibroMet 500V, a single-beam laser Doppler vibrometer, offering improved non-contact vibration measurement. The VibroMet 500V provides more sensitive vibration measurement over a wider dynamic measurement range compared to its predecessor, the VibroMet 500. In addition to these improvements, the new system has a visible red laser beam for easier point and measure operation. Common measurement applications include turbine blades for aircraft and power generators, automobile engines, body parts and mufflers, computer disk drives and storage devices, musical instruments and loud speakers and precision optical and laser systems.

The VibroMet 500V Is Now Easier to Use:
-- Improved! Wider sensitivity range for more precise measurements now starting at 2 microns per second instead of 5 microns per second.
-- Improved! Larger dynamic range to measure vibration velocities to 1 meter per second up from 0.7 meters per second. The laser is collimated, so there is no need to adjust a focusing lens.
-- New! New additional visible laser beam for easier point and measure operation.

The VibroMet 500V's Features and Benefits:
-- High coherence solid state laser diode ensures the system receives strong signals at distances of up to 5 meters. For some surfaces, distances can be even greater.
-- Robust field-tested design that can be used in harsh and outdoor environments.
-- Measures most surfaces without retro-tape or other surface treatments.

"The VibroMet 500V has been designed to make it easy for any user to obtain non-contact vibration measurements quickly," said Dr. Cecil Hess, President of MetroLaser. "This vibrometer has successfully been used in harsh outdoor field applications as well as quiet research laboratories to measure a wide variety of vibrating surfaces."

The VibroMet 500V is ideal for quality assurance, product optimization and other applications that require measuring vibration without touching the object being measured. Non-contact measurement avoids modifying the surface being measured resulting in more accurate results. It also allows many different points on the object to be quickly evaluated and is necessary when measuring objects that are very hot or out of reach. Industries served include automotive, aerospace, computers, acoustics and many others.
