Thomas & Betts Expands Range of T&B® Fittings With Silver Grip® TCF® Series Tray/Cord Fittings
New Range Includes Aluminum Fittings up to Two Inches, 316 Stainless Steel up to One Inch
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Jan. 11, 2006 - Thomas & Betts has expanded its range of T&B® Fittings Silver Grip® TCF® Series Tray/Cord Fittings to include aluminum fittings up to two inches and 316 stainless steel fittings up to one inch. The Silver Grip TCF Series Tray/Cord Fittings offer a safe, yet economical, way to terminate portable cord and tray cables in hazardous locations. Hub sizes range from one-half inch NPT to two inches NPT in aluminum, and from one-half inch NPT to one inch NPT in 316 stainless steel. The fittings are designed for use in Class I, Gas and Vapor environments.
"The fittings are available in aluminum and stainless steel, both of which are well-suited to petrochemical applications," said Craig Yoss, senior product manager for Thomas & Betts' Industrial Products Group. "The aluminum fittings are ideal for areas where corrosion, weight and spark hazards are concerns. Their unique chuck design was developed to have the extreme pullout strength required for tray cable applications. They are particularly useful for shore applications, and OEMs have had great success with them already.
"The stainless steel fittings work well for food processing, wastewater and pharmaceutical applications."
Additional benefits include a tapered neoprene bushing and O-ring seal that are impermeable to moisture and dirt. The chuck grip provides high mechanical pullout that exceeds applicable performance requirements. The fittings also can be tightened by hand, without the use of tools.
The tray cable fittings comply with IEC requirements for Class I, Zone 2 locations and portable cord fittings comply with IEC requirements for Class I, Zone 1 locations when they are used with enclosures that contain no arcing or sparking devices. For enclosures with arcing and sparking devices, TCF® fittings must be used with a certified Class I hazardous location sealing fitting.
