New Portable DR 2800 Spectrophotometer Increases Laboratory and Field Efficiency with TNTplus(TM) Barcoded Vial Reagents

LOVELAND, COLORADO, October, 2005 - The latest portable spectrophotometer from Hach offers the same great accuracy and versatility of previous Hach spectrophotometers, while providing increased ease of use and time/cost saving options. The new DR 2800 Portable Spectrophotometer can run 240 analytical methods. Use it together with over 30 additional new TNTplus(TM) ready-to-use reagent vials with integrated barcode labeling for automatic method identification. The new TNTplus reagent vials provide streamlined laboratory and field analyses. This integration of instrument and chemistry results in automatic method detection that increases productivity and reduces errors. The small instrument size lets you bring it anywhere in the plant or the field for rapid, location / time-frame specific analyses.

The DR 2800 Portable Spectrophotometer reads TNTplus reagent vial barcodes to automatically recognize the test method, determine the reagent blank, and yield 10-fold measurement and averaging - all to reduce reagent consumption and testing time while improving testing accuracy and productivity. At the same time, analysts benefit from the superior optical glassware, and convenient, flat bottoms of the new TNTplus reagent vials. The packaging of the TNTplus vials is useful too - it's color-coded by parameter and range, compact, and includes easy-to-understand pictogram instructions.

Along with the widest range of water analysis methods available in a single instrument, this portable spectrophotometer boasts a small footprint of only 8.5 by 13 inches. A large touch screen user interface makes it intuitive to use and ergonomic. Use it in the lab with regular line power or in the field with the optional lithium-ion battery. The tungsten halogen lamp offers unparalleled optical stability and drift-free measurement typical of more-expensive instruments. Cell adapters provide complete versatility: 1" square cells, AccuVacs, 1 cm square cells, 16mm Test 'N Tube vials, and the new 13mm TNTplus vials can all be used in this instrument.

The DR 2800 Portable Spectrophotometer is an ideal solution for any analysis team, including those serving drinking water, wastewater, boiler/cooling water, ultrapure water, and process water in the food, beverage, petrochemical, refining, brewing, and paper processing industries.
