Boiler Blowdown Systems capture waste energy.
Boiler Blowdown Systems capture waste energy.

Boiler Blowdown Systems capture waste energy.

December 28, 2005 - Pre-engineered Series BDHR recovers up to 95% of heat energy normally lost with conventional blowdown separators. Resulting condensate can be used to preheat boiler makeup water, while resulting flash steam can be used to heat deaerator tank. As systems recycle waste energy, they cool boiler blowdown to 140°F or less, acceptable for discharge to municipal wastewater systems. Centrifugal blowdown vessels come in 8 sizes from 8-26 in. with capacities from 100-100,000 lb/hr.

Packaged Boiler Blowdown Systems Capture Waste Energy For Significant

BLYTHEWOOD, SC - Spirax Sarco, Inc., has introduced the BDHR Series of packaged boiler blowdown heat recovery systems. These preengineered systems recover up to 95% of the heat energy normally lost with conventional continuous blowdown separators. The resulting condensate can be used to preheat boiler makeup water. Resulting flash
steam can be used to heat the deaerator tank or for other fuel-saving uses. The energy savings produced by BDHR systems are significant enough that payback is rapid and operating costs are permanently reduced. As they recycle waste energy, BDHR systems cool boiler blowdown to 140°F or less, acceptable for discharge to municipal wastewater systems.

The modules are available with eight sizes of centrifugal blowdown vessels ranging from 8 in. to 26 in., with capacities from 100 lb/hr to 100,000 lb/hr. The flash vessel and heat exchanger are ASME Code stamped. The assembled unit is hydrotested and painted prior to shipment. BDHR packages include a plate heat exchanger or optional
shell and tube heat exchanger, pressure relief valve, isolation valve and mechanical or electrical level controls. Optional components are available, including manifolds for balanced flow from multiple boilers.
