Realm Systems Unveils Mobile Enterprise Platform at DEMOfall 2005

Next-Generation Mobile Computing Solution Provides Security, Manageability and Mobility for the Distributed Enterprise

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. and SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 19 / -- Realm Systems today announced the release of its Mobile Enterprise Platform Version 1.0, a solution that enables organizations to manage and secure their network endpoints through the use of two components: fully self-contained computing devices for end-users, the Realm MPS (Mobile Personal Server), and a central management router for IT to maintain, manage, and safely deliver applications, services, and content to those devices, The Realm MR (Management Router).

Realm was invited to join a select group of 66 companies to debut its technology solution at DEMOfall 2005, a two-day technology showcase featuring the latest trends and innovations in emerging segments, including mobile computing.

"The future of distributed computing was unveiled today at DEMOfall," said Rick White, CEO of Realm Systems. "Our platform allows end-users to take their digital world with them wherever they go, while placing total control of what they have access to and use squarely in the hands of the enterprise."

The differences between Realm System's solution and those of other mobile computing platforms are three-fold-mobility, security and manageability. While other solutions present a combination of these three components, none offer all three simultaneously.

Mobility: The Realm MPS allows users to work on their organization's unique network suite on any compatible host personal computer, via the USB port, without the necessity of installing new software or rebooting the host system. The Realm MPS uses the host PC's keyboard, video, and mouse to interact with applications run from the device.

Security: The Realm MPS is secured using multi-factor biometric authentication. Using the built-in thumbprint scanner, end-users gain access to the server through 'zero sign-on' capability, instead of the use of vulnerable usernames and passwords. When a Realm MPS is docked with a compatible networked host PC, it automatically tunnels into the corporate network and establishes a secure virtual private network (VPN). The Realm MR then safely delivers applications and services without exposing them to the inherent security risks of the host PC's platform, because all that runs on the host PC is a projection of an application's user interface.

Manageability: Realm MPS devices are centrally managed through the Realm MR in conjunction with existing infrastructure. The Realm MR reduces IT headaches by controlling network permissions, use policies, application suites, software updates and other functions. At any time, IT can shut down a Realm MPS device, change rights and permissions, or replace a lost device to its last saved state.

"Realm has produced a technology platform that has serious problem-solving potential for the enterprise," said DEMO Executive Producer Chris Shipley. "The combination of inexpensive and secure mobile devices with centralized management provides the means to deliver applications without compromising network security. Realm is one to watch."
