Sterling's New Frictionless Chiller Offers Big Savings

New Berlin, WI-Sterling is excited to introduce the newest addition to its heating and cooling line with its innovate RTCW Frictionless Chiller, which represents a savings of 35% over rotary screw designs.

A digitally controlled magnetic bearing system, consisting of both permanent magnets and electromagnets, replaces conventional lubricated bearings. The frictionless compressor shaft is the compressor's only moving component.

Sterling, in partnership with McQuay International have provided a unique industrial design with two independent centrifugal compressor circuits and shell and tube evaporator and condenser components that range in size from 120 to 190 ton capacity.

RTCW chillers offer increased energy efficiency with the elimination of oil and oil-bearing parts, and provide considerably less vibration and noise with sound levels as low as 77 dBA. With the use of environmentally-friendly R-134a refrigerant, RTCW chillers provide zero ODP (ozone depletion potential).

With its compact design at 35" wide, the RTCW saves on installation time and costs and frees up valuable floor space. Maintenance is simple and less costly with the elimination of oil bearing parts that need to be lubricated and eventually replaced, providing increased reliability over screw compressors. In addition, RTCW compressor speeds adjust automatically to match the load and operating conditions for maximum part load efficiency.

One of the key benefits of the RTCW Series is the touch-screen controller, which allows you to retain the cause of the current fault and display the last 25 fault conditions for easy troubleshooting. The microprocessor allows you to maintain an accurate record of the unit's performance and history, which is downloadable through a USB port in the control panel.

Sterling provides a full line of heating and cooling equipment and always offers full support from start-up to installation to 24-hour on-call service.
