DUAL POINT IGNITION: the New 35-62 Direct Spark Ignition Control from Fenwal Safely Lights and Monitors Dual Gas Burners

Ashland, MA-Fenwal Controls announces its Series 35-62 24 VAC microprocessor-based dual point direct spark gas ignition system for commercial and industrial OEM customers. Developed for gas-fired applications utilizing two separate burners, the 35-62 controls a single gas valve and simultaneously lights and monitors both gas burners. The 35-62 provides significant safety and efficiency advantages over using two controls and gas valves to light and monitor two flames separately.

Applications include boilers, water heaters, furnaces, commercial cooking equipment, and dryers.

For optimum heating efficiency, certain applications require two individual burners located separately, but acting in tandem. In this type of application, lighting and monitoring both burners safely and efficiently can be a challenge. "Unlike using two controls or other types of dual spark systems, the 35-62 does the double duty of controlling both burners as an integrated system," says Russ Gerbich, Senior Sales Manager, Fenwal Controls. "Should one burner fail to light or shut down, both burners shut down, preventing uneven heating or potential safety concerns. This way our customers can achieve the heating efficiency their applications require without the added cost of a second gas valve."

The 35-62 features include:

o 24 VAC microprocessor-based DSI control

o System diagnostic LED

o Multiple tries for ignition (OEMs specify either one or three attempts as well as timings)

o Custom pre-purge and inter-purge timings: 0, 15 or 30 seconds standard.
Custom timings available.

o Remote flame sensing with dual flame sensor inputs

o Full time flame sensing

o Dual flame sense test pins for ease of troubleshooting

o Software conforms to UL 1998 requirements; CSA certified

o With case and cover measures 5.69" x 5.31" x 2.30" uncovered with standoffs measures 5.12" x 5.5" x 1.84"

Experienced application support, pricing and delivery of production volumes and free development samples are available upon request to qualified OEMs.
