Frequency Converters prevent power disturbances.

November 1, 2005 - Featuring double-conversion design, ED Series(TM) UVS PlusŪ Rackmount Frequency Converters regenerate clean pure sinewave computer-grade power with regulated 3% voltage and frequency independent of generator voltage and frequency drift. This allows connected equipment to continuously operate during extended brownouts to 88 Vac. Accepting 50, 60, and 400 Hz input and yielding fixed 50 or 60Hz output, compact 4U ED Series converters offer brownout, surge, transient and blackout protection.

Falcon Electric Introduces ED Series(TM) UVS PlusŪ Rackmount 50/60/400Hz Frequency Converters

3, 4 and 5kVA Units Offer Superior Brownout, Surge, Transient and Blackout Protection in a Compact Package

Irwindale, Calif. October 25, 2005 Falcon Electric, Inc., a leading supplier of power protection and conversion solutions today introduced its ED Series(TM) UVS PlusŪ Rackmount Frequency Converters. The ED Series is a family of high performance single-phase frequency converters, voltage regulators and line conditioners that provide highly flexible and reliable AC power ranging from 3kVA to 5kVA. Utilizing field-proven double-conversion design, the ED Series offers unmatched power quality without sacrificing efficiency, size or weight. At less than 100 and 106 pounds respectively, the ED Series are the lightest units in their class.

A Complete Solution
Accepting 50, 60, and 400Hz input and yielding a fixed 50 or 60Hz output, Falcon's compact 4U rack-mount ED Series converters provide precise voltage regulation and line conditioning as well as an internal battery backup system providing true regenerative online Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) functionality. The converters can easily accept wide input variations and remain at their designed voltage and frequency allowing connected equipment to continuously operate during extended brownouts to 88 VAC. Featuring ruggedized options and operating temperatures ranging from 0 C to 40 C, the ED Series is an ideal solution for harsh environments. Critical applications such as military and aerospace electronics, process control, test and measurement, robotics and communications/microwave can benefit from the ED Series' robust feature set.

The ED Series is a solid-state generator that prevents costly power disturbances. Due to the units' regenerative online design, the ED Series regenerates clean pure sinewave computer-grade power with tightly regulated 3 percent voltage and frequency independent of generator voltage and frequency drift. In addition, the converters are designed to start up loads that exhibit high inrush when started from the utility. Challenging power loads such as motors, multiple computers and/or incandescent lighting are easily handled by the ED Series' precise design.

Compact and Lightweight
The ED Series units are compact and lightweight, easily fitting into 19-inch rack or portable racking systems. Complete with integrated battery modules, the 3kVA and 4kVA models weigh 94 and 95 pounds, and the 5kVA unit weighs 105 pounds.

Availability and Pricing
Available now, the ED Series meets the UL 1778 standard and FCC Class A requirements. List pricing starts at $8,450, and all models include a one-year warranty. For more information on the ED Series, contact a Falcon sales representative at 800-842-6940 or e-mail sales@falconups.com.
