New Cat Electronics Display Offers 'Real-Time' Data

A new, rugged graphical LCD display designed for use in heavy-duty applications is being introduced by Caterpillar Electronics and Electrical Systems (Cat Electronics) at the International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), Sept. 27-29, in Louisville, KY. The D3:C4 color display features a bright, LCD digital display that conveys real-time operating and performance monitoring.

The color screen presents the operator information on vital parameters such as speed, flow, pressure, and temperature as well as diagnostic reporting and calibration functions. It is designed and engineered for use in applications operating in rough terrain or adverse environmental conditions. The information is obtained through data links that connect all electronic systems (engines, transmissions, and electro-hydraulic) to inform the operator of critical operating parameters along with maintenance data in multiple languages.

The compact, rugged D3:C4 display features:
o Color Full VGA 6.5" LCD (640X480 Pixel Active Matrix TFT)
- Viewing Area 132.5mm H x 99.6mm W
o 4 NTSC/PAL Video Inputs (4.3:1 aspect ratio)
o PIP Video w/ 30 frames/sec
o 4 Pushbuttons w/tactile feedback
o 4 Position Rocker switch
o WinCE OS w/ Builder Tool
o Dimmer switch Input
o Internal Audible alarm
o Communication data links including two (2) CAN (SAE J1939), two (2) USB 2.0, RS-232, SAE J1708

The D3:C4 color display meets various environmental specifications that include:
o An operating temperature from -40º C to 85 º C,
o Vibration of 5g 24-2000Hz
o Sealed in a +/-35kPag case, rated to IP68/NEMA 13
o 10,000 hr Edge-Lighting
