Visualization Module suits press fitting applications.

October 24, 2005 - Designed to analyze positional accuracy during assembly, Model DT85 allows user to view press fitting process results and measurement curves independently on up to 32 MP85 or MP85DP amplifiers by using CANbus. Measurement mode is used to gain global statistical information on complete process run. Parameter control mode allows transducer and amplifier parameters to be zeroed, checked, and adjusted, and can only be accessed using password-activated function key.

Visualization Module Reduces Assembly Failure Rate

The DT85 visualization unit from HBM reduces assembly failure rates in press fitting applications by analyzing positional accuracy during assembly. This means early preventative action can be taken during production giving a consistently high level of accuracy. Without the unit manufacturers may have to wait until a piece is rejected during testing of the completed assembly.

A single DT85 allows users to view the fitting process results and measurement curves independently on up to 32 of HBM's MP85 or MP85DP amplifiers by using HBM's CANbus. The DT85 simply connects to the CANbus and polls for required data allowing existing MP85 and MP85DP units to be used without a firmware update.

The DT85 has two separate modes - measurement and parameter control - which give different benefits to end users.

Measurement curves are shown together with the results when in the measurement mode. The screen switches to inverted colors that clearly show when a measurement curve is outside of its acceptable limits.

The measurement mode is used to gain global statistical information on the complete process run. A process counter is provided showing the total number of processes completed. Each tolerance window can be examined individually, allowing users to recognize quickly and easily those parts of the process curve that are critical. The measurement mode shows the instantaneous value of both channels and the status of the digital I/Os and limit value switches.

By contrast, the parameter control mode can only be accessed using a password-activated function key separate from measurement mode. This mode allows transducer and amplifier parameters to be zeroed, checked and adjusted. The co-ordinates of the tolerance window can be adjusted if the process is drifting but remains within specifications. Parameter sets can be saved and selected as needed and the internal storage of process data in the MP85 can be easily deactivated if necessary.
