FLIR Systems Announces New Industrial Furnace Camera Technology to be Introduced at Annual Infrared Conference
New Infrared Imaging Technology "Sees through Flames" - a tremendous boon to the Petrochemical and Utility Industries
Boston, MA (October 4, 2005) - FLIR Systems, Inc., the global leader in infrared (IR) cameras, is pleased to announce the introduction of a new line of thermal imaging cameras for industrial furnace applications - the ThermaCAM P25F and P50F. These cameras are ideal for monitoring all types of industrial furnaces, heaters and boilers - particularly for the petrochemical and utility industries - to ensure safe and efficient operation. A formal announcement and brief presentation will be given at InfraMation 2005 - the largest annual infrared applications conference - on October 17-21, 2005 in Las Vegas.
These new IR cameras feature the latest in uncooled microbolometer technology - meaning that the camera is ready to use in less than one minute, without the warm up time of past technology, a very beneficial feature in "high-heat" industrial environments. To further protect predictive maintenance workers, the camera also features "burst recording" used to quickly record and archive a series of images of the furnace/boiler/heater while in operation, and comes with a detachable heat shield that protects both camera and operator.
These new offerings are truly revolutionary since they provide accurate temperature readings across the entire furnace/boiler/heater surface during the IR scan in real-time - a great benefit as they enable faster, more comprehensive and therefore safer inspections. Antiquated contact-based thermocouple measurements on the other hand, only give temperature readings for the point(s) at which they are in contact with equipment, and as such can miss potential issues leading to unscheduled shutdowns or even catastrophic failure.

The annual InfraMation conference is beneficial to beginners in the infrared camera field as well as professional thermographers.
