NOVA Chemicals introduces ZYLAR® EX 720 for Clear, Tough Applications

Clarity and low-temperature toughness creates new possibilities for packaging

Pittsburgh, PA - NOVA Chemicals Corporation today announced the launch of ZYLAR® EX 720 resins, the newest addition to the ZYLAR suite of clear acrylic copolymers. With unmatched low-temperature toughness and excellent clarity, ZYLAR EX 720 is ideal for applications such as refrigerated or frozen food packaging.

"We are delighted to offer a new resin that delivers outstanding shatter resistance and aesthetics - ideal attributes for food packaging," said Debra van Holst, Global Packaging Director for NOVA Chemicals.

Uses for ZYLAR EX 720 include fresh fruit and produce containers, salad bowls and lids, cold beverage containers, deli trays and frozen dessert packages. "The clarity of ZYLAR EX 720 enables consumers to see the quality of the food they purchase, while its toughness protects food in the freezer or refrigerator," said van Holst.

ZYLAR EX 720 can be used to design complex parts and creates new opportunities for brand differentiation. In addition, ZYLAR EX delivers outstanding value for converters with improved processability, greater throughput and reduced part weight. Because it can be processed on existing styrenics equipment, ZYLAR EX enables converters to enter new markets such as food, retail and medical packaging with little or no capital investment. ZYLAR EX is FDA compliant, has outstanding organoleptics and is available globally.
