NKK Switches' New Pushbuttons Meet RoHS Requirements

LP01 Series Constructed with Heat Resistant Materials Allow for Lead-Free Soldering

Scottsdale, Ariz. (September 29, 2005) - NKK Switches, a manufacturer at the forefront of developing environmentally compatible components, has expanded its extensive illuminated product offering with the addition of the LP01 series of short body pushbuttons.

The LP01 series of illuminated pushbuttons and its packaging materials meet the RoHS Directive by restricting the use of hazardous materials. These devices boast a short body of .551" (14mm) behind panel depth. The pushbuttons come fully assembled with a translucent white cap as well as a red, green or amber LED, which is an integral part of the switch.

The diameter of the cap is .535" (13.6mm) and the overall diameter including the housing is .787" (20mm). The smooth and slightly concave cap is designed to accommodate the fingertip comfortably. The switch's unique design and construction prevents the cap's removal and limits tampering.

The LP01 series boasts a crisp and clean indication of circuit status facilitated by the snap action contact mechanism. In addition, it is designed with an arc barrier between the movable contacts to protect against crossover. With a mechanical life of 500,000 operations minimum, this device lends itself easily to applications with high usage.

These illuminated switches are available in both single-pole and double-pole momentary versions. Rated at 3A @ 125V AC or 3A @ 250 or 30A @ 30 V DC, these versatile and appealing pushbuttons also have UL94V-0 flammability ratings. The series has been submitted for UL Recognition and CSA Certification.

The LP01 is available in both snap in and bushing mount versions. Terminals are combination solder lug and .110" quick connect. They are epoxy sealed to lock out flux, dust, solvents and other contaminants.

Non-illuminated models of the LP01 series are also available and feature the same distinctive characteristics as the illuminated versions.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty, and surface mount switches.
